About this deal

Conical flask uses within the laboratory are numerous and varied. Beaker chemistry is an integral element of testing and manufacture within the field of medical science and many other sectors. So ubiquitous are they, that a scientist without a conical flask is like a carpenter without a saw. Flasks are produced in different materials and in different sizes, dependent on the function they are required to fulfil. They are often used in conjunction with probes and sensors in the testing of liquid chemicals. Conical flasks are one of the larger containers used in a laboratory environment and are often used to mix or boil larger amounts of chemicals. Their design means that swirling a liquid inside to agitate or mix won't lead to a spill which maintains the controlled principles of a laboratory setting. Erlenmeyer flasks are ideal for mixing chemicals due to their wide base and ability to be spun without spilling. Since the base is broad, there is less chance that the liquid will rise to the top and overflow. High transparency: Conical flasks have a high degree of transparency because they are made of borosilicate glass. The conical flask is used to filter various materials through a funnel because its narrow mouth supports the funnel. The beaker, on the other hand, is not suitable for filtration using a funnel due to its broad aperture.

Erlenmeyer flasks can also be used to prepare microbial cultures. Some are fitted with baffles that help maximize gas transfer and further agitate the contents when shaken. Buechs J, Lotter S, Mildbradt C (2001b): " Out-of-phase operating conditions, a hitherto unknown phenomenon in shaking bioreactors". Biochem Eng J. 7(2): 135-141, PMID 11173302 Conical flasks and beakers are made of glass and essential laboratory equipment. However, both of them vary in features and applications; The conical flask’s rounded and thin mouth makes pouring easier. However, the beaker’s top spout makes it simple to pour chemicals.

Ground glass stopper: Many conical flasks are available with a ground glass stopper that provides an airtight seal so that even gaseous compounds can be stored. Erlenmeyer’s flask is utilised for the preparation of concentration solutions and chemical analysis. It is primarily employed in the titration procedure and is hence also known as a “Titration Flask.”

There are two types of conical flasks available in a variety of sizes. Mostly made in clear glass, some versions are made in an amber colour to protect light-sensitive chemicals.

The innovative shape of this flask allows it to be sealed with a stopper for heating while also allowing the experimenter to stir. Erleynmeyer flask and filter flask: Pros, Cons, and Limitations.
