I never knew why the bass and treble knobs are even there when they don't give a difference while listening. Due to the similarity of the other features of both speakers, there is not much difference in sound quality. In our opinion, this isn’t quite as classy of a look as leaving the gray cloth plate on, but it’s nice to see that if you want the speaker cones exposed, you can have that.

The bass response, funny enough, was never something that I thought was a strong point of these speakers. Featuring a 2-way active crossover control and two drivers for more concise and reliable playback, and a bass radiator port to enhance the lows of the main driver. There’s also a sub output here, which means you can hook these up to a subwoofer to get more oomph and rumble, as well as jacks for speaker wire. It contains a 13mm silk tweeter that provides a high-quality audio experience and a wide spectrum of frequencies, along with a 4inch (106mm) woofer. However, hundreds of companies offer thousands of options if you look into the market, making it difficult to decide.

FYI here is a review of a similar model, different tweeter but you get the idea that perhaps Edifier makes some decent stuff in their line. While the Edifier R1280T boasts precise highs, the 1280DB offers slightly richer mids and fuller bass. The stereo active speakers are the speakers that combine all the components of the stereo system(traditional stereo system) into one pair of speakers. True, there are cheaper options, but these are going to be the better value thanks to their performance and features. If the Edifier R1280DBs’ elegant design, easy setup, multiple input options, and sub output aren’t enough to convince you, its solid performance will.

At moderate volumes at the neutral setting, the bass response is still quite powerful, and the balance with the highs is ideal. They do work surprisingly well for my use case at work with very specific genres, and for that I couldn't justify replacing them.Headphones are optimally suited for analyzing tonal artifacts in a recording but completely distort distance perception.
