But when Mira arrives on her first day all the unicorns are gone . . . except Dave!To celebrate the release of The Naughtiest Unicorn by Pip Bird, we managed to catch the stars of our newest unicorn-tastic middle-grade book, Mira and Dave the unicorn, for a very exclusive interview. Waarom is Dave > Dirk geworden in het Nederlands? Dave kan gewoon hoor, ik ken er zelfs een paar. Als Mira > Mira kan blijven zie ik niet in waarom Dave moet worden veranderd. This is a cute, Easy Chapter book that I think any child could enjoy. There is equal time given to both girl and boy characters, though the main character is a girl. The girls in the book are brave and one boy is timid while the other boy is a slight bully. My only issue (which is sort of a non issue, because I’m not bothered by it, but others might be) is that Dave the Unicorn apparently farts a lot, has big poops, and even threw up everything in his stomach. I think this is the author’s way of showing the reader that he isn’t a perfect specimen, but that he has his positive points within the story too.
