Description

Spending time together may seem less natural and easy, especially when you’re both busy or tired. But love means you keep trying and make an effort to show you care. You feel deeply connected I understand the questions might work for some people in some situations but when it comes to whether or not these 4 questions are the answers to every problem for every person, everywhere, me and Byron Katie certainly differ. Not asking you to drop that thought, just simply can you see a reason to drop this lie that argued with reality?

Over and over again she claims that 'the work' will surely lead to the solution to everyones problems, and if not, it surely wasn't the questions that could be at fault, noooo, of course it's the people that just hasn't done their 'work' well enough, or was ready for its brilliance. In my experience there are many paths to go, and I dont believe there is a 'cure them all' or a saviour, or one and one only remedy for life's hardships or personal challenges. The questions are: 1. Is what you’re thinking true? 2. Can you be absolutely sure it’s true? 3. How does it make you feel? 4. What would you feel like if you didn’t feel like this?If you continue to do The Work, you may discover that the questioning flows into every aspect of your life, effortlessly undoing the stressful thoughts that keep you from experiencing peace. Loving What Is offers everything you need to learn and live this remarkable process, and to find happiness as what Katie calls “a lover of reality.” Langeslag SJ, van Strien JW. Regulation of Romantic Love Feelings: Preconceptions, Strategies, and Feasibility. PLoS One. 2016;11(8):e0161087. doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0161087

Beneath the judgments we find thoughts we've believed for years that we use as our fundamental judgements of life called UNDERLYING BELIEFS! This book has taught me that the rain isn't causing my irritation; my irritation is caused when I attach my belief that it shouldn't be raining. Who am I to determine whether or not it rains? It's not my business whether or not it's raining - that's Nature's business, not mine. How about I stay in my own business? How about I figure out what's really causing my irritation?

But if you are not in that category, if you are courageous enough to face your demons with the statement: "I want to know the truth!", then you are the perfect candidate for Byron Katie's brilliant - simply brilliant - inquiry method. Katie’s God seems fairly nondenominational; she also likes to say, “For me, reality is God. Because it rules.” People’s understanding of God differs, and you don’t have to agree with Katie’s definition to benefit from her suggestion to stay out of business that isn’t yours. The humbling idea that there’s something bigger than us — it could be a divine being or the laws of physics — will always remind you that some stuff is out of your hands.

Being in love generally refers to those intense feelings that take over at the start of a relationship. The worksheet Katie designed allows us to judge the people/situations in our lives that provoke us as a way of opening our eyes to the truth, clearing the lint from the projector so we can see reality as it is. The understanding is like a lightbulb being switched on; it is instant and life-changing.

A Simple Yet Powerful Practice

Our interpretation of what’s going on is what causes us to stress about it – or not. So if we change our interpretation, we’llchange our definition of what’s stressful too!
