Larry the Cucumber: 🎡 That'd be too bad, I'd be so sad, I might get mad, I'd call my dad. That be too bad. 🎡 The sheep tipping over was something Phil came up with since it would be dull for them to be just standing around while doing nothing. Dave: 🎡 He's big, but God's bigger. And when I think of Him, that's when I figure, with His help little guys can do big things too. 🎡 Before Bob can finish his sentence, Larry-Boy suddenly sneezes, pulling his Super-Suction Ear right off of Bob's nose.)

Jesse: It's very nice that you wanna help, but saving a country is a big thing. You're a little guy. Big people do big things, and little people do little things. So, stay with the sheep. While played a villain, the Israelites agreed with their enemies the Philistines that they would choose two champions to fight each other, and whoever's side won would rule over the other. The Philistines chose the giant Goliath, and Dave volunteered to fight for the Israelites. Even though Goliath was much bigger and stronger, Dave defeated him with a slingshot and a pebble, but most importantly, with the help of God.King Saul (played by Archibald): That seems like a reasonable idea. Alright, we agree, send out your champion. Not counting VeggieTales in the House/ City and The VeggieTales Show, this is the shortest episode of VeggieTales, at nearly 29 minutes long. However, it does have the longest countertop scenes. In the scene where Larry-Boy is eating popcorn and talking to Bob about the story, there's a piece of popcorn on Larry-Boy's helmet. Phil Vischer stated on the DVD commentary that it was his idea as he thought that it'd be funny, but no one found it funny at all.

Jimmy and Jerry saying they can eat a whole (insert object here) is a reference towards their debut appearance. When Dave sits on King Saul's throne during the line "With His help, I know I can do big things!" in Big Things Too, it foreshadows David becoming king after King Saul's death. This is the only time when the end credits took place during the countertop scenes due to fading out afterwards. Larry the Cucumber: 🎡 When I was just two years old, I left my lips out in the cold. And they turned blue. What could I do? 🎡 The first episode where the staff of Big Idea didn't get tired and made everything on budget and made on time according to the behind scenes if you have the DVD.Larry states that Larry-Boy can fly, although he does not have this power (Though the Bad Apple video game and later design of the costume later incorporate flight). Bob: (Narrating) But Dave had an even bigger problem. You see, out of all the brothers, he was the smallest. Bob states that there weren't any cars, telephones or vacuums or other modern technology. However, in other Biblical adaptations in the series, at least one example of modern technology is featured in a few episodes. Phil Vischer stated that this is the first video to feature animals. However, there is a snake and two whales featured in God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!

This is one of two episode to have toy sets released of them, with the other being Josh and the Big Wall! Bob: Well, good! It's time to talk about- (whispers) It's time to talk about what we've learned today. Larry the Cucumber: (Singing to the tune of the William Tell Overture) 🎡 It's a lip. It's a lip. It's a lip. Lip. Lip. It's a lip. It's a lip. It's a lip. Lip. Lip. It's a lip. It's a lip. It's a lip. Lip. Lip. Liiiiiiiiiiiips! Lip. Lip. Lip. 🎡 Jesse: King Saul is putting together an army to stop the Philistines! He needs your help! You must help save Israel! King Saul: Oh. I say, that's very kind but... let's be reasonable. You are a tiny little fellow, and, well Goliath, he's enormous! No, no, no, that's a job for a big person, not a little boy like you.Bob: But David loved God, and he knew that even though he was small, God could help him do big things. Larry-Boy: Oh my goodness. That was amazing. Dave was just a teeny little guy, but he beat Goliath who was the biggest, strongest guy they'd ever seen! Oh my! I laughed, I cried, it moved me, Bob.

During this part, as Archibald draws Larry with frozen lips, his aunt with a beard and the fire department freeing his lips from a gate, smoke rises from his notepad as he rapidly draws.) David's sheep bear some resemblance to the sheep that appear in the Wallace and Gromit short "A Close Shave."Bob: No, it doesn't mean that we can just do whatever we want to do, it means that anything that God wants us to do, we can do! During these lyrics, Archibald draws Larry in tears, Larry looking angry and his dad on the phone.) Jean-Claude: (to Christophe) This is going to be easier than we thought. (to the Israelites) You know, I think we can save us a lot of time. How about we bring our strongest man, and you bring your strongest man, and they will fight. If our champion beats your champion, you will be our slaves. But if your champion defeats us, we will be your slaves. What do you think about that?
