More fabulous Sussex small-batch gins are made by Harley House Distillery in Seaford by Heidi and Adam. Bacardi also markets Bombay Original London Dry Gin (or Bombay Original Dry). Eight botanical ingredients are used in the production of the Original Dry variety, as opposed to the ten in Bombay Sapphire. Wine Enthusiast preferred it to Bombay Sapphire. [11]

If you have yet to taste genever, it is unlike any other gin you've had. This style of gin is as if a soft Scotch whisky were married with gin, and Bols' malty feel is a perfect example. Based on Lucas Bols' original recipe from 1820, it has a wonderful balance of sweet malt and subdued juniper and citrus. It is triple distilled using equal parts malt wine and neutral grain spirits that are infused with natural flavors. Bols Geneverwas on the U.S. marketuntil Prohibitionand was not available again until the summer of 2008. It is bottled at 42 percent ABV (84 proof), and a bottle typically sells for the same price as any premium gin. The mixture is then distilled in small copper pots, gently bringing the spirit to 40% alcohol volume. This method is ideal for the gin as there is no over-heating. Austrian wheat is added and the second round of distillation takes place, creating a spirit with 84% alcohol volume. The aromas are extracted and conserved in the finest grain alcohol and the mixture rests for 2 or 3 days before the third round of distillation begins. The unstable aromas and alcohol are concentrated, creating a gin of high alcoholic content.

Blue Gin: excellent all the way from Austria - Urban Drinks UK

The brand was first launched in 1986 by English wine-merchant IDV. In 1997 Diageo sold the brand to Bacardi. [1] Its name originates from the gin and tonic popularised by the Royal Indian Armed Forces during the British Raj in colonial India; " Bombay" refers to the Indian city and "Sapphire" refers to the violet-blue Star of Bombay which was mined from British Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and is now on display at the Smithsonian Institution. [2] Bombay Sapphire is marketed in a flat-sided, sapphire-coloured bottle that bears a picture of Queen Victoria on the label. [2] American hip-hop artist Wiz Khalifa and his "Taylor Gang" are also known for their love of Bombay Sapphire dry gin. [15]

The majority feature some degree of the pine flavor that comes from juniper, which is gin's signature ingredient, yet no two bottles have the same combination of botanicals. It's time to go old school and get a taste of gin brands that have revived the oldest gin recipes in the world. We begin with the oldest of the two, genever.One of our best moments was when Arctic Blue Gin was awarded double-gold in 2018. In the World Spirits Awards, our gin was recognized as the best gin and awarded the coveted title of Spirit of the Year 2018. So there is no doubt that Arctic Blue is one of the world’s best gins – proven. Hastings 1066 gin is easily sippable neat or over ice and also makes a fine G&T. The citrus and botanicals are beautifully balanced with a soft sweetness. This one’s a keeper. Slake Sussex Dry is a bold gin, juniper forward and full of flavour. It’s citrusy with a slight herbal aroma and a little less dry than some. Every gin trolley should have Slake onboard. The botanicals are slow-dried before being infused in neutral grain spirit and carefully distilled in a copper still. The final gin recipe is blended with South Downs spring water. Distillation can take weeks to a few months, depending on the gin. After distillation, the gin is bottled by hand, sealed, labelled and ready to go out into the world. Hayman's Old Tom Gin is one of the best examples of this old-world style, though it was only recently launched in 2007. Produced by Hayman Distillers of Witham, England, it is based on a family recipe from the 1870s.
