The complex details on the top of the Millennium Falcon are precisely crafted. This level of detail is impossible to recreate in anything smaller than this 1/72 scale model. The cables will be extended here later and new small plugs will be soldered on, because I did not build the control unit and the loudspeaker into the model, but into the diorama. I use the clear part. It's important to me to see the light reflections that the glass casts. There was no glass in the film, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to see the actors properly. Everything I've seen suggests that no-one paints this with brushes, it's all sprayed. Is this right?

Method for Spotting Millennium Falcon My Very Easy Method for Spotting Millennium Falcon

The idea was to let the falcon fly through a kind of halved tube. This will then be equipped with a Death Star surface, which I will create later. Personally I wouldn't brush paint until there are finer details. And with all my builds I try and use as less of the decals as possible and any panels I airbrush on.....it's a pain with all the masking but you get a more realistic finish. Plus you can pre-shade, weather, chip effect and add damage much better than you can with a decal. The nice thing about the kit you have is the panel decals already have the look of chips and scratches etc so will still look decent. Nothing wrong with using the decals. With regards to aftermarket parts, I believe there are some about but I'll be building mine out of the box. I've also seem some more detailed characters in different poses available if you weren't happy with the ones that come with it. The art of these surfaces, which consist of many individual panels, is to emphasize them differently. This creates a sense of depth. Bandai really went all out here. There has never been such an accurate and detailed model of the falcon.I think Fine Molds released their 1/72 model of the falcon in 2005 before Master Replicas MF, they decided to make a scale model off the 32" I don't know how much access the FM modellers were allowed, but they got some fundimental measurements wrong There's no right or wrong way to do it. You just have to do it your way but always push yourself a tiny bit to do something that takes your builds to the next level. https://bandai-hobby.net/sw/jp/special/millenniumfalcon_building_guide.html?fbclid=IwAR3FzdTXI4UEUYcfD3IxbkDKoANu3Jf6DzSzXzBheXAZ6tspg6pbncpS-nA

Millennium Falcon, Bandai 0225754 (2018) - Scalemates

It is widely thought that light from the Millennium Falcon?s sublight engines is blue. However, the light shown when Star Wars: A New Hope was released was white. For the PG 1/72 Scale Millennium Falcon, white lights were chosen as a sign of respect toward the first movie. The first three panels are painted red. It was quite complicated because I hadn’t thought about installing the flap control later. And everyone seems to assemble then spray (rather than spray parts before assembly). Is this right too? I would definitely recommend using an airbrush or spray cans for the paint job. You could do the smaller details with a brush but best to do the overall colour with an airbrush.

But that’s why I didn’t understand why parts of the inner ship can only be seen in one of the larger holes and I filled the other holes with leftovers from the rummage box and styrene. And everyone seems to assemble then spray (rather than spray parts before assembly). Is this right too? I'd assemble then spray/paint You've probably been watching videos on YouTube, these are the most accessible and there's quite a few on there with some good tips.

The different colored plates are supposed to give the impression in the film that Han and Chewi are repairing the falcon with all sorts of spare parts that they got from a junkyard. For example with a plate of a red or dark gray painted YT freighter. I am in the middle of building this now, and I think I will probably paint it fully assembled, although being a bandai kit, it push fits together, but the fit is so snug that there is a danger of damaging the part when trying to prise them apart. You can modify parts to make this easier though. What is of no use at all from the original kit are the LEDs. They’re way too weak. Disappointing for a 400 euro kit. Especially since there are very bright lights for a mere 8 cents apiece. WIth regards to paint, acrylic or lacquer paints seem to be ok. Not sure on enamels. With washes, be careful using anything enamel based as the plastic has a habit of reacting adversely to the thinners used to wipe them off. Also, all the other panels painted in the original color of the falcon seem to have almost no scratch marks at all. Everything I've seen suggests that no-one paints this with brushes, it's all sprayed. Is this right? Use both, You can't replicate all the weathering with an airbrush. The unique curved engine consists of light guiding parts that recreate the way the engine would light up in the movie. Bandai have so far surprised us with superior engineered & detailed kits than even FineMolds have given us, with optional parts for building different versions....Imagine if a new 1/72 Falcon kit allowed us to decide on a 3 gear ANH Falcon / 5 Gear ESB, RoTJ & beyond version,....the option for circular or rectangle dish I shouldn't be replying as I've not built mine yet but I have built the 1/144 scale version. Most of the Millennium Falcon is the same colour so it is easier to paint mostly built....or at least in large sections.
