Plastic parts in WONDERBOOM 3 include a minimum of 31% certified post-consumer recycled plastic* by weight. "Post-consumer" means it's made with plastic sourced from end-of-life electronics. So it's literally the life of the party. What Hi-Fi?, founded in 1976, is the world's leading independent guide to buying and owning hi-fi and home entertainment products. Our comprehensive tests help you buy the very best for your money, with our advice sections giving you step-by-step information on how to get even more from your music and movies. Everything is tested by our dedicated team of in-house reviewers in our custom-built test rooms in London, Reading and Bath. Our coveted five-star rating and Awards are recognised all over the world as the ultimate seal of approval, so you can buy with absolute confidence. Wattage is a unit of power (Volts x Amps = Watts) and is indicative of how much power the amplifier uses to generate sound. It's the speaker sensitivity (Sound Pressure Level or SPL rating) and amplification that will determine how loud that sound is. In other words, a 7W speaker can produce more sound than an 8W speaker depending on the SPL of the speaker. Loudness is measured in decibels, and is independent of sound quality. The two often have an inverse relationship, that is, loudness often comes at the cost of sound quality. With the WonderBoom 2 (WB2), volumes of 8+ will cause noticeable degradation in sound quality. The WB2 does have "Outdoor Mode" designed to boost volume levels even more, but when your primary focus is sound travel (coverage area), the degradation in quality is often acceptable. To charge your WONDERBOOM 2, plug the included USB cable into the micro-USB port located inside the weather door.

Very good sound quality for everyday use. Reasonably loud from a few rooms away. Also has a long connection distance and stays connected even when I take my phone upstairs but leave the speaker downstairs. The Wonderboom 2 is designed to be portable and durable, making it suitable for outdoor activities. Its compact size and lightweight construction enable users to take it on-the-go without much hassle, while also ensuring its reliability and durability over time. The speaker is constructed with premium materials that guarantee a long-lasting performance.

Rechargeable lithium-ion battery for up to 14 hours of battery life between micro-USB charges. Actual battery life will vary with use, settings and environmental conditions. That unmistakable yellow charger has been replaced with an Apple-esque white cable but, overall, the Wonderboom 2 looks and feels more premium than the original.Battery life is excellent I've been using it for 2 weeks now as a shower speaker (about 30 mins a day) still hasn't needed a charge This speaker does not offer Wi-Fi, a 3.5mm connector, or an AUX input, which limits its compatibility with certain devices that rely on those connectivity options. However, the built-in Bluetooth functionality provides a versatile and easy-to-use wireless experience. It’s built to take 5-foot drops*. And with 40 meters of wireless range, you’ve got freedom to explore—even when the road gets tough. The Wonderboom 2 delivers a sound as cohesive and detailed as we could hope for at the price. The presentation takes a step forward too. There are discrete musical nuances available in the twang of the double bass that weren’t obvious with the original.

The official test duration for this rating is 30 minutes, so your Wonderboom may even be able to last longer than 30 minutes (and it should), but I wouldn't chance it. Of course, the biggest upgrade is how the Wonderboom 2 handles Ultimate Ears Double Up feature. If you buy two Wonderboom 2's you can pair both speakers together to form a stereo pair, meaning you have both left and right channels. The older model could use the double up feature; however, it didn't create a stereo pair, but rather just allowed you to play the same audio from both speakers at once. Both versions are water-resistant enough to survive submersion in up to 3 feet of water for 30 minutes. Any deeper or longer and the water pressure may prove too much for any water-tight seals or gaskets on your Wonderboom. What does IP67 mean? To make these numbers more meaningful, here's a comparison of sounds of common things you may hear at different decibel levels: The original WB outputs a max 86 decibels. The WB2 has a max output of 86 decibels; however, the WB2 has Stereo linking capabilities (link to another WB2 which will effectively doubles the "loudness" as each will produce 86 decibels) as well as "Outdoor Mode" to increase overall sound from 86 decibels to 87 decibels. The UE Wonderboom 3 gets 14 hours of battery life, though that’ll vary depending on listening volume and Outdoor Boost. When nothing is playing, it’ll turn off automatically to save its charge. Sonically, the UE Wonderboom 2 is fantastic for its size. The speaker plays much louder than you would expect, especially with the Outdoor Boost enabled. There’s a bit of distortion at max volume, but if you keep it below 80%, music sounds great. The other bit of good news is that, thanks to its wraparound grille, the Wonderboom 2 boasts 360 degrees of sound, which means you get the same audio quality wherever you are in relation to the speaker. My only other quibble is the volume of the start-up and shut-down tones. They're a lot louder than necessary. IP67 Rating means it's both dustproof and waterproof (rated 30 minutes submerged in 3.3 feet of water).

All you gotta do is pair up two. Press once to double up. Press again for a full two-channel stereo assault—that’s left and right channels blasting from each respective speaker. Not as small as the Tribit, but still small enough to fit in your hand at about 4" high and 3.5" diameter. While Outdoor Boost does increase overall volume, sound quality takes a noticeable dip when listening at lower volumes. With Outdoor Boost enabled at medium volume, cymbals sound splashy and mids are more emphasized - which is a good thing -and there’s slightly more bass than the original Wonderboom, which helps bring some warmth to the sound while not compromising on the highs. Mids are excellent with vocals sounding natural and detailed. If you put the original Wonderboom next to the Wonderboom 2, you’d be hard pressed to point out the newer one. The only visual cues are the Wonderboom’s new color combinations and new elastic strap - the speaker chassis, buttons, and microUSB charging port all remain unchanged. With a sensitivity of 86 decibels, the Wonderboom 2 is capable of producing loud and detailed audio even at lower volumes. It features a Bluetooth range of 33 meters, allowing for convenient wireless streaming without the need for a direct connection. Plastic parts in WONDERBOOM 3 include a minimum of 31% certified post-consumer recycled plastic* by weight. “Post-consumer” means it’s made with plastic sourced from end-of-life electronics. So it’s literally the life of the party. There seems to be many questions about speaker watts, so I'm updating my original review to hopefully shed some light on wattage and sound. Surprisingly bigger 360 sound: Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 2 is a wireless Bluetooth speaker with surprisingly bigger 360 degree sound and additional bass. Mobile range - 30 m
