Multiple family meals.” Obviously there’s a lot going on as Lucy thought she was dropping in on an idyllic family at Christmas, one she’s yearned for since the death of her beloved grandmother two years ago. She has no other family and the holidays are hard and lonely. It all gets further complicated when she arrives before Ross and the family seems to believe she’s his new girlfriend. It’s pretty hilarious, especially the delightful but unfiltered Nanna Jean who makes it clear that she wants to see some great grandchildren. When a snowstorm sets in and traps everyone, including Lucy, it makes for interesting dynamics and not everything is lighthearted and cozy. There are real issues going on between Alice and Nico that threaten their relationship. Clemmie’s announcement causes some friction and Glenda feels as if she hasn’t served her children well. Ross and his father continue to struggle, both operating from misconceptions about the other. What looks like the ideal family on the outside is just another normal family dealing with the same issues everyone else has to face.

She didn’t want to move. She’d been raised here, by her grandmother, who had loved everything about London and had been keen to share its joys and its history with her granddaughter. The three Miller adult children live in London and are tired of the never-ending questions from their parents about their personal lives. Things are going on in their lives that they can’t even discuss with their siblings. They devise a fictitious plan to satisfy their parents – Ross will tell them that he is dating a girl named Lucy. Little did they know that Lucy Clarke would appear at the Highland home of their parents looking for Ross for business reasons.

I fell in love instantly with every character in this book, Lucy was so endearing with her warm hearted attitude and the Millers were just the perfect fiction family. I love you to bits, but your exercise program is couch to kitchen. Is there any chance I can turn you into an exercise fanatic before January so we can increase your credibility? The Miller family was intriguing on its own but I also found Lucy to be a compelling character who yearned for family and relationship. I always look forward to the author’s annual holiday stories and this one just kept me in my happy place. She nailed the family issues and softened them by adding comic relief through Nanna Jean, though underneath all her shenanigans was sage wisdom. The romances were complicated but I rooted for all of them. This was a wonderful listening experience to prime me for the upcoming holiday season.This is the point where I’m going to challenge you all,” Arnie said. “Do I believe in miracles? The princess doesn’t punch the prince, Alice, and she doesn’t cook the frog in garlic butter.After reading Snowed In For Christmas I want to be snowed in at the Millers house so bad. I long for a family and they are the best family to be a part of. This lodge has my name all over it and I must say, this book was unputdownable (yes that is a word) lol. There are a lot of characters in this book, but not too many. They are all well developed and I enjoyed them all. The family home in Scotland sounds wonderful, as well as the nearby little village. With the big snowstorm, everything is decorated for Christmas and gives the book a nice heartwarming feel.
