Really all I want to do is throw a thesaurus' worth of lovely words at you, and be done, I was hooked on this book and once I had the characters straight in my mind, and they were all snowed in together, then the book took off and I literally couldn't put it down. We’ll figure it out.” Arnie gathered up his files and his laptop. “The timing is good. Everyone thinks about fitness in January, right? We’ve all stuffed ourselves over the festive period. Turkey. Multiple family meals.” Obviously there’s a lot going on as Lucy thought she was dropping in on an idyllic family at Christmas, one she’s yearned for since the death of her beloved grandmother two years ago. She has no other family and the holidays are hard and lonely. It all gets further complicated when she arrives before Ross and the family seems to believe she’s his new girlfriend. It’s pretty hilarious, especially the delightful but unfiltered Nanna Jean who makes it clear that she wants to see some great grandchildren. When a snowstorm sets in and traps everyone, including Lucy, it makes for interesting dynamics and not everything is lighthearted and cozy. There are real issues going on between Alice and Nico that threaten their relationship. Clemmie’s announcement causes some friction and Glenda feels as if she hasn’t served her children well. Ross and his father continue to struggle, both operating from misconceptions about the other. What looks like the ideal family on the outside is just another normal family dealing with the same issues everyone else has to face.

That’s the spirit.” He managed a smile. “You’re not to worry. If the worst happens, I can make some calls and you’ll be in another job before the day is out.” Sarah lives near London, England with her family and when she isn't writing or reading, she likes to spend time outdoors hiking or riding her mountain bike. It was obvious from the look on Arnie’s face that they’d reached that point in the meeting everyone had been dreading. This story gave me all of the feels. The author added so much to this crazy family story. She captured it all perfectly with all of the chaos. Grandma saying whatever she wants. People are on edge trying not to spill secrets. It all sounds so familiar! I have even been the outsider at someone’s Christmas day celebration, so I get that one… Never again! Sophie needs me. I—” Ted dropped his phone again but this time Alison was the one who bent and retrieved it.In fact I really shouldn't need to say anything else as Sarah Morgan is wonderful, her books are always something special and if you are a fan of hers like I am then why are you reading this review, when you should be reading the book already! She didn’t want to move. She’d been raised here, by her grandmother, who had loved everything about London and had been keen to share its joys and its history with her granddaughter. The three Miller adult children live in London and are tired of the never-ending questions from their parents about their personal lives. Things are going on in their lives that they can’t even discuss with their siblings. They devise a fictitious plan to satisfy their parents – Ross will tell them that he is dating a girl named Lucy. Little did they know that Lucy Clarke would appear at the Highland home of their parents looking for Ross for business reasons.

I fell in love instantly with every character in this book, Lucy was so endearing with her warm hearted attitude and the Millers were just the perfect fiction family. I love you to bits, but your exercise program is couch to kitchen. Is there any chance I can turn you into an exercise fanatic before January so we can increase your credibility? Or give you any credibility at all?” Don’t be. I’ve never been happier, that’s the truth, and if some family tension is the price I have to pay then I’ll gladly pay it. And we’d love to have you.” Not so brilliant.” He gave a tired smile. “Anyway, enough of that. How are you doing, Lucy? I know this is a difficult enough time of year for you without all these additional worries.” I love these type of stories, especially in a holiday setting. What better place for it to happen but in the Scottish Highlands at Christmas in a snowstorm. The Miller family was intriguing on its own but I also found Lucy to be a compelling character who yearned for family and relationship. I always look forward to the author’s annual holiday stories and this one just kept me in my happy place. She nailed the family issues and softened them by adding comic relief through Nanna Jean, though underneath all her shenanigans was sage wisdom. The romances were complicated but I rooted for all of them. This was a wonderful listening experience to prime me for the upcoming holiday season. This is the point where I’m going to challenge you all,” Arnie said. “Do I believe in miracles? Maybe I do, because I have my eye on one of the biggest prizes of all. One piece of new business in particular that would solve all our problems. The biggest fish in the pond. Any guesses?” He glanced around expectantly. “Think sportswear brands. Think fitness and gyms.” This Christmas the Miller siblings have one goal—to avoid their well-meaning family’s endless stream of prying questions. Ross, Alice and Clemmie have secrets that they don’t intend to share, and they are relying on each other to deflect attention.

Lucy felt the lump in her throat grow. Arnie had so many big things to deal with, but the client was still his priority. Even a client as small as this one. Arnie was still talking. “Let’s start by looking at the positive. We are harnessing the power of social media and changing the way brands reach their customers. We are experts in influencer marketing. We are changing consumer habits—” This was the fairy tale, but she’d never liked fairy tales. Occasionally growing up she’d read them to Clemmie, but her sister had been unimpressed by Alice’s version of the stories. The princess doesn’t punch the prince, Alice, and she doesn’t cook the frog in garlic butter. After reading Snowed In For Christmas I want to be snowed in at the Millers house so bad. I long for a family and they are the best family to be a part of. This lodge has my name all over it and I must say, this book was unputdownable (yes that is a word) lol. There are a lot of characters in this book, but not too many. They are all well developed and I enjoyed them all. The family home in Scotland sounds wonderful, as well as the nearby little village. With the big snowstorm, everything is decorated for Christmas and gives the book a nice heartwarming feel. I just want to take a moment to say thank you so so much to the team over at HQ Stories and Sarah Morgan for gifting me this book along with a Christmas card from Sarah, a tote bag and a handful of sweet treats! I never win competitions on Booksta so I’m so grateful!
