We’re going to add some February fun to our homes by learning how to make a Valentine garland with velvet covered hearts and painted wood beads. This velvet covered heart Valentine garland is the perfect bit of cozy to add to your winter home. HOW TO MAKE A VALENTINE GARLAND with VELVET COVERED HEARTS Be sure to leave about 1 foot of string on each end so that you have plenty of space to tie the garland to whatever you’re tying it to. Now comes the fun part! Grab all those strips of fabric and ribbon you cut in the beginning. Gather up 6-8 pieces and tie in between each heart. While looking for Valentine's day garland ideas we came across so many beautiful designs. Valentine garlands can come in different textures, lengths, colors, hearts, tassels, pom-poms, and so on.

This year I was introduced to the world of air dry clay and needless to say I am hooked. Look how charming this Valentine's garland turned out. It has farmhouse, cottage, vintage, modern and minimalist written all over it. And last here is a homemade doily heart garland we made that is so easy and cheap to create. You can make it with any color doilies or even alternate doilies to give it more color. This garland was easy and fun to make and the supplies are minimal. If you craft, you probably have many of the products at your disposal. Here’s a wood bead garland “pro-tip”: using the Beadalon beading needles is amazing! The large needle ‘eye’ is so simple to thread and the needle goes through just about any size bead.Adding a white lantern and votive holders with some red candles add some additional ‘understated’ Valentine elements. And guess what! Unlike my Designer-Style Velvet Pumpkins and my Velvet Easter Eggs , these velvet hearts are a completely NO-SEW project! Remember, if you think some of the pieces are too long they can always be shortened. Step 2 – Making the Hearts Once you are happy with your heart placement, secure at the top of each loop with a small dab of hot glue to the long piece of yarn. There are so many ideas to decorate your home for Valentine's day but here are a few favorites that will make those special feel loved:

My sweet friend Carol made this pom-pom Valentine garland and I knew you would want to see it. Isn't this adorable! You can change the colors of the yarn and felt to pinks, gold, or white to make this garland any color scheme. It would even be cute in rainbow colors.

In case you’re new, my name is Kim and I have lived is Michigan my entire life! I love all the beauty the state has to offer. Four seasons! What’s not to love!? I’m a mom, mimi and I’m passionate about my faith, family, a good book and a hot cup of tea. I love a pretty home and enjoy sharing home decor with you! Last but not least, another tidbit about me, I make blankets for a cause and I would love for you to read all about that in my post The Journey. This basic crochet heart pattern works perfectly on my crochet coffee cozyand you can make a small heart for this crochet hair clip. I hope you love this pattern! What do you think of making a bunch of velvet-covered hearts, maybe in the two colors pictured in the supply photo, and placing them in a big white ironstone bowl? Hmmmm… I think I may need to make another Hobby Lobby run! The best part about many of the decorations, is that they can easily be incorporated into your every day decor.

By the way, I didn’t measure the spacing percisely, however, you can if you want to. With the length I had it was easy to eyeball them. Step 5 – Add the Ribbon & Display Last week my family spent the night together making this fun Valentine Garland. It’s a simple idea that probably won’t be featured in a home decor magazine, but it suremade for a sweet family night! We made memories with the people we love while talking about all the things we love. It was so much fun, I think this will be our new Valentine tradition! Shoot” some glue on the middle of the heart and bring the top corner of the fabric down on the glue.Chain 45, in top of heart sc, chain 6, sc in top of the other side of the heart, chain 12, sc in top of heart, chain 6, sc in top of other side of the heart, chain 12. Repeat until all hearts are joined, chain 45 fasten off.

I used twine for the base of my garland. Make sure to measure where you are going to use it and add about 8-12″ to each end. That way you’ll have a tassel that hangs of each side. Place more glue on the fabric at the middle of the heart and stretch the bottom corner up to the middle. You place the point of the scissors in the groove of the curved plastic and start snipping the yarn all across to the other side.I made the decision to glue them right onto my hand made hearts. Next, I glued the plain grapevine hearts, directly to the twine, in an every other fashion. If you are popping over here from Sweet Pea, welcome! Paula is one of my blogging besties and we actually got to spend a wee bit of time together at Haven this past summer. Paula always has a story to tell about her decor and I love reading about her family history and vintage finds. Don’t you just love her sweetheart garland?
