Prunus blireana, also known as the Double Flowering Plum, is a stunning ornamental renowned for its light claret red that turn a bronze/purple colour as the leaves mature. The striking foliage grows along dark branches through summer, blooming masses of double pink flowers in spring. Blireana is great for adding excellent colour variation to any garden or landscape. Considered to be chalk and clay tolerant so you should be able to plant it almost anywhere. This is not us justifying you to plant where you like, I am sure the managers of Anfield or any other football stadium will have something to say if they find you have planted an ornamental plum tree in one of their goals. This delightful ornamental produces a mass of pretty, lightly scented, double pink blossoms in spring. The flowers are borne on bare stems, with the handsome foliage emerging later. The young eaves are a rich purple and mature to a dark green through the course of the summer. Perfect for a modest space, this is an excellent specimen that is reliable and easy to look after. It is a particularly good subject for the middle of a lawn.
