Description

The charm of this weeding tool is in its simplicity. There are no fancy materials or design features. The construction is very good, and it made me realise that there’s often no need for complex and expensive weeding tools. I would be surprised if I’m not still using this 10 years down the line! The downside of a short handle is that you will need to be close to the ground; therefore, these may not be the best weeding tools for people who have difficulty kneeling or bending. While comfortable to use thanks to the wooden handle, I wouldn’t want to use it for hours. The handle wasn’t as ergonomic as that of others I have tried. For this reason, I probably wouldn’t use it to remove large quantities of weeds and I would recommend wearing gloves to prevent blisters. I found this tool to be very effective. It pulled weeds from the roots with relative ease, although I only managed to test it in soft soil. I found it most effective when used on dandelions and other weeds with long roots.

They’re best used on flat patches of lawn, and are useful because you don’t need to bend down to pull out the weeds. Brush Weeding Tool Consider spacing out the time you spend weeding. Instead of completing the task in just one day, set aside a half-hour per day for a week or two to get the job done. You’ll reduce the chances of feeling sore and tired by breaking up this chore into manageable chunks of time. This tool can be used for sawing, digging plugs, measuring, shovelling and even opening bottles! It has handy measurements which means planting bulbs accurately is much easier, and I’m confident it would do most of these jobs very well. But we’re here to talk about its ability to remove weeds. I tested this tool in my raised beds, as it was compact enough to get to the weeds in between the plants.I feel the negative responses on the plastic parts breaking is probably that the people using it are trying to extract weeds from dry hard ground, a task they were never designed to do. Many people often don't realise their own strength, thus they break their weed pullers. and given the width of the prongs I would say the fulcrum is well thought out – this is definitely for bigger weeds – smaller ones can slip through – worth thinking about Comparing the Fiskars foot peddle to other leading brands, the Friskers device comes out on top! Another thing to note is that the bristles are very tough. For this reason, I opted not to use it on our new patio in our garden, instead opting for the driveway. I would be concerned that it could damage the grout if used too vigorously, so care is definitely required. The following guide will help you choose the best weeding tool for you to use in your garden: The Benefits of Using a Weeding Tool But did you know you get crevice tools as well as long handled – and many more useful features like fulcrums and pedal operation: What’s a fulcrum?Straight out of the box I was impressed with the quality. It has a good weight to it, with a solid wooden handle. The stainless steel blade is engraved with measurements, which was a really useful touch. The total length is just 33 cm, part of which is taken up by the handle.

I have genuine concerns about the longevity of this product and I doubt it will hold up well to abuse.

Overall Take

It has the same niggles as the other models – if you hit stones you damage the tines and the stones can stop the tines (or prongs if you prefer) from engaging and actually grabbing the weed. This is very much a your soil problem, not the tool problem – it’ the limit of any tool in this range of weed pullers and by design can’t be fixed. Pros Some of the best weeding tools will let you pull tough weeds out by the root, often working even on well-established, deep-rooted weeds like dandelions. Others will be more effective on smaller weeds.

One of the biggest hassles of gardening is weeding. It can be a long, arduous task, but it does not necessarily have to be that way. The Fiskars Weed Puller Review! Like every similar device, this weed puller will leave holes in the lawn as the claws grab chunks of soil too. In addition to the gloves, you may also want to wear a hat with an extended brim while you weed to protect your face from the sun’s UV rays. Generally designed for the older generation and others who might have other issues when it comes to being on your knees—designed with a long handle, proven to be easy on your shoulders when pulling out weeds from your garden. So, did it work? While I found this weed tool did a good job removing weeds on patios, it certainly didn’t get down to the roots, although you wouldn’t expect that from this tool. It did a great job neatening up my front driveway and removing weeds between the pavings, though a fair amount of physical labour was required. Care does need to be taken not to damage your patio grout. The best time to head out to your garden to do a little weeding is after a rainfall. The soil becomes moist and easier to work with. The bristles did get clogged with damp dirt and bits of leaves too, which have proved difficult to remove. In hindsight, I should have used it in drier weather.
