I'd gone into this with incredibly low expectations because I already knew I was going to like the show much more than the books based off of what I'd heard, and I was very, very correct. The summer that Belly turns sixteen, major changes impact everyone staying at the Fisher’s beach house. After the Conklins arrive, the two families begin to settle in for what at first seems like a typical vacation—but it soon becomes clear that this summer won’t be the same as those before. Belly has blossomed into a beautiful young woman, and both boys notice the change in her appearance. However, Conrad’s moodiness makes Belly feel more distant from him than ever before. She learns that Conrad has quit the football team, broken up with his girlfriend, and started smoking. Initially, the cause of Conrad’s sullen mood is unclear. As the story progresses, the reader learns more about the difficulties facing the Fisher family. i won't be rereading, and the best punishment i can give my sister is making her read these anyway. When Belly finds out Jeremiah has cheated on her, she wants to end the relationship. In a desperate attempt to amend his mistake, he proposes. Belly hesitantly says yes, although it devolves into many fights with her mother, who thinks she is too young to get married.

So well spoken, so unique, so original, AMEN BROTHER. No scene has truly ever frightened me so much, to the point where I just had to wrench this book out of my own hands and go take ten minutes' breather in the bathroom. But since this review isn't marked with SPOILER, I'll just say that you will have to stop and re-read a few times what has actually happened at this 90-degree-climax.
