The materials used are very sturdy and have a premium feel, while the functional design is very smart, as is typical of Peak Design. I also have to say the aesthetics are a huge step up from other competing bags out there. LowePro or Manfrotto products just scream “camera bag!”, have logos on them, or unnecessary red or yellow accent lines. Peak Design keeps it a lot more minimal and classy.

I can fit my Sony A7iii with my Samyang 35mm f/1.4 lens , spare batteries, and an assortment of other little things I may need during that day. Today, we’re going to take a look at the Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L (V2). We’ve already reviewed the three liter size. Basically, the 6L version is the same as the 3L version only, you know, larger by three liters. Plus, the 6L version has a tablet sleeve. Besides some extra space, the main difference here is that the 6L size has a tablet sleeve with a magnetic closure that will fit up to an 11’’ tablet. It has plenty of padding to keep your tablet safe. You could also throw a flat book or notebook in this space. And, if you have no need for the sleeve, it lays flat and stays out of your way. Durability & Testing The various carry styles do mean that even if your shoulder gets a bit sore after many hours of wearing, you can change things up and maintain good comfort. Internal organizationBesides these dividers, there is a zipped compartment on the inside where you can easily store batteries, SD cards, or other small items. A sleeve, which closes easily using a little magnet, provides space for a tablet, a notebook, or something similarly shaped. Since every videographer and photographer has different needs, it makes sense that Peak Design—a company that’s all about making premium gear specifically for videographers and photographers—offers three sizes of the Everyday Sling (V2): 3L, 6L, and 10L. Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L V2 In Detroit We’ve found that a purse-style of carry works the best—on your side, beneath an arm—probably because it has nowhere to slide. Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L V2 Tripod Carry This is what led me to the Peak Design Everyday Sling. I initially bought the 6-liter version as a gift for my partner, but soon got a 10-liter version for myself as well. This review is based on using both the 6L and 10L. Everyday Sling 10L

While the metal adjustment handles are nice looking and give a sense of quality to the strap, they are also a significant hazard to equipment for those of us who put our cameras in bags. I was constantly afraid that the handle was going to scratch a body or LCD or worse, chip a lens that had somehow been put away without a cap on. As far as I'm concerned, there is no way that the Slide should have used metal in this design. The added weight was unneeded and the danger to camera gear too great. I would love to see this exact design, but with plastic adjustment handles. What's the Bottom Line? The plate has small cutouts in each corner that allow attachment of an anchor. When connected to a strap eyelet and the plate, the camera hangs more naturally at your side when worn across your shoulder/chest as a sling. There are other products on the market that allow you to attach a strap to your camera's tripod mount, but virtually all of them must be removed if you wish to use a tripod. Integrating an Arca-Swiss compatible plate into its design means that users of the Slide can easily tripod mount their camera without making any changes to the strap setup. Peak Design supply you with two of their unique “FlexFold” dividers to position however you desire and create the arrangement you need. That’s why I needed a camera bag that’s easy to carry throughout the day, allows rapid access to my camera, and with enough extra space for some essential travel items. The 6L is made from the same ultra-strong water-resistant 100% recycled 400D double poly-coated and DWR-impregnated nylon canvas. If you take away nothing else from that sentence, you should note that the sling is durable and weather-resistant. Don’t take it on a high-speed underwater motorcycle chase, but your camera gear should be safe if you get caught in the rain. If you have one of the Peak Design Capture Clips, they can also be attached to the side of the bag easily as well – it’s great they’ve factored all of this together! Peak Design started as a photography gear brand, so you’ll definitely see this as the main use case. The Sling’s internal foldable walls are absolutely designed for storing lenses and other photography gear.

While the individual components are the same, we’ve found the overall carry slightly less comfortable and less versatile on the 6L version than on the 3L version. Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L V2 Waist Carry All these organizational features make using the Sling a breeze. When using it primarily as a camera bag, I find it very easy to store accessories like batteries, and change batteries or lenses using one hand, with the bag acting as a temporary ‘desk’. The hardware is made fromanodised aluminium and stainless steel, the zippers are smooth and don’t ever snag. The folding divider is handy. Most of the time it's used as a simple divider, but I have been able to fold it down when travelling to provide extra storage for loose cables, wrist straps and a card reader. It also provides me with peace of mind, knowing that the setup isn’t going to require any reconfiguring once I finally add a 23mm prime to my kit. Those who shoot with chunky primes and telephoto lenses will probably want to opt for a higher capacity Everyday Sling. The official examples are useful, though I do think you’ll be really stuffing your sling if you follow them exactly. I prefer to fill a bag up to a maximum of 70% or so, as this makes lens changing or grabbing an item from the bottom much easier. Comfort

Comments

If I didn't switch it around often for a wrist strap or hadn't bought it first tho, I'd totally be using the Slim Strap. The build quality on the Everyday Sling is top-notch.The attachment points for the strap feel strong and give a sense of being over engineered, which is great, because it doesn’t feel as though they’d ever tear or give way. I attach the cord to a small key chain ring and since then the problem is gone. Attaching the plate to a tripod takes a little bit more care with the ring but is still possible. The main compartment has a three-litre capacity (no prizes for guessing that) and has two hook-and-loop panels to position the modular folding divider. This folding divider is origami-like - it works as a vertical divider but has a folding flap, providing two smaller compartments when needed, one above the other. The UltraZips open down the sides, allowing the compartment to open wide for maximum access. Two fabric hinges prevent the compartment from falling open and spilling items onto the floor.
