I have never been so throughly seduced by a character as I was by Slade Ravinger. His endearments drip like warm honey and his filthiness makes me want to forsake my own morals which I would more glaldly do so for him. Also please no more Queen Malina chapters!! I know they are there to drive the political plot and see what the other parties are up to, but istg I was bored to tears that I wanted to k*ll myself while reading those chapters so I'm begging Raven Kennedy no more 😭 My mind can't handle being in King Midas and Queen Malina's POV.. that's too much negativ energy at once. Contrary to Auren's belief I'd like to add that there is power in submission, true, but only if your significant other respects boundaries, concepts of consent and "no" as a word in his vocabulary. Which leads us beautifully to another topic I am very, very concerned about: Consent in it's various forms. And she smiles, through the tears dried on her cheeks, through the glassiness of her eyes. The sight is so damn beautiful that it’s hard to breathe. The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, wiping out Seventh Kingdom in the process. Rip has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes—his eyes are the most compelling of all.

Thank you so much to The Nerd Fam and Raven Kennedy for sending me a physical ARC copy. I didn't get to read or review it before the publication date since I was in the middle of moving, but I'm so grateful for receiving an early copy. As always, all opinions are my own. Before I begin, let me remind everyone that I never set out to dislike a book. That would be an astoundingly miserable use of my time. I also have no interest in being contrary just for the sake of it. Honesty is my only objective. Now, the negatives: (and I am about to list a lot of them, but keep in mind the book still got 3 stars overall despite these things)

Book 5 of this adult fantasy series continues in this epic story inspired by the myth of King Midas, fae, and fated romance. One thing that she was always enthusiastic about was writing. Even when she was quite small, Kennedy had started creating innocent stories with the help of the books she read at that time. Though the stories were not good enough, Kennedy saw them as an escape that she created for herself whenever she wanted to be a different person in a different world. We also saw more of the Wrath in this book than in the previous one, and it was nice to see that Auren was with people who loved her and cared about her, and seeing their banter and silly rivalry added a lighter touch to the darker aspect of the book such as healing from intense trauma and physical torture. There’s safety in loneliness, but there’s a lurking danger too. One that doesn’t come from anything other than yourself.”

Let me just start off by saying how much I loved the found family in thus just *chef's kiss* it was so precious. I adored the new characters introduced and their interactions with Auren. Judd, Lu, Osrik, Keg, Rip—I need more of them please and thank you.

Book 3 of this adult fantasy series continues in this epic story inspired by the myth of King Midas, fae, fated romance, and insurmountable greed.

the sex scenes were…weird. Did anyone else find them weird? Like the dialogue in particular just did not match the vibe of the series. Commander Rip can get it anytime he wants. His name is dumb af tho and I don't claim that name, but he can still get it. The only tiny light in this series for me is him.
