Retrieved 12 February 2015. While I was expecting to hear more from the upcoming album, I was still delighted to hear all of the classics as well as a few new ones. This was my first time seeing FATM live, and they most certainly didn't disappoint. Florence's vocals were so omnipotent and sharp, and the same if not better than what you hear on the record. Her free as a bird movements and seemingly infinite pool of energy were wondrous to behold. I enjoyed her interaction with the crowd as well, she seemed to bring a life to her audience that I've never seen other live artists do, personally.

In her early teens, Welch's home life underwent an unusual overhaul. Her parents, "always better off as friends", had divorced, and her mum had started a new relationship with a neighbour. When they married, Welch and her two siblings were abruptly melded with this next-door family. "I gained two older brothers and a sister, going from being the eldest to the middle," she once said. " You analyse it."

But if “What The Water…” was suggestively atmospheric, promising a climax that never quite arrived, the first single proper, “Shake It Out” plainly means business. From a deceptively rueful harmonium intro, the song wastes no time charging into a chorus that seems scaled not just for festivals or stadiums but for colosseums. So efficiently does it splice 21st-century Arcade-Fire anthemry with ’80s enormo-dome aesthetics, by the time the third chorus rolls around you fully expect it to be accompanied by the entrance of John Farnham’s stadium bagpipes.
