Description

I had this amp for five years, and it is the one I have made the most out of. Previously I had a cheap Harley Benton (CG1O X Street) that sounded tinny, and after it suddenly broke, I decided to get this Roland Cube. You can build your own sound using 30 amps and 40 effects, with access to over 10,000 presets and Positive Grid’s ever-growing Tone Cloud. It is ideal if you are just starting out and want to improve your technique or define your style. Supplied with the Roland Micro Cube GX is a rather fetching carrying strap. It’s quite a decent one as well and makes the amp pretty comfortable to carry. Looking for the sound of Roland’s JC-120 Jazz Chorus or your favorite British combo amp? You’ll find those and more in the Micro Cube, thanks to seven COSM amp models. Roland’s COSM technology is the only modeling method that captures every nuance of the original amps—from the preamp and circuits to the speaker. All you need is the Micro Cube for perfect tone. High-Quality Effects

Its endless possibilities of sound, cabinet and amp modelling configurations, paired with the Spark app, make it one of the most interesting on this list. The Roland Micro Cube GX is an awesome update to one of the world's best selling battery powered amplifiers and a real favourite here at Andertons. The portable lightweight Micro Cube GX features 8 COSM amp sounds including Extreme distortion as well a selection of sparkly clean and crunchy overdrive tones that will work for a wide range of styles. Of course, some guitarists will definitely prefer a more simplistic approach, but for others needing a broader sonic palette, amp modeling is the way to go. Another benefit is the ability to record awesome guitar sounds direct without the hassle of mic’ing up a guitar cab at ear shattering volumes. Developed by a team of guitarists looking for the ultimate tone, the THR delivers the sound you want and the feeling you need. Effects that match high-end amps, combined with room-filling reverbs and delays, catapult your sound to the next level. If you manage to take this off without hurting yourself, you can also attach a normal strap and hang the amp around your shoulder and make your mischief in the pedestrian zone. A useful innovation is the memory function, where you can save a sound and use it alternately with manually set sounds. Switching via footswitch is only possible with larger cubes. Other controls within the app include input gain and bass boost, accessible by hitting the cog button in the top right-hand corner. There’s also a nifty A/B button that lets you select a certain section of a song and repeat it over and over. Handy for mastering difficult guitar parts without having to repeat the whole song from the start. The Cube Jam App – summing up Complete with a built in tuner, the battery powered Cube GX is the perfect buskers amp and as we ourselves have proved with extensive testing the Roland Micro Cube is a durable little beast and won't break easily! Features

Albeit its size plays against having a big sound, the eight amp sounds and eight DSP effects, including heavy octave and delay/reverb with spring emulation, have granted it a special place amongst this “small practice room, battery-powered amp” category. COSM models are available, including an acoustic simulator and a neutral setting for use with a microphone instead of a guitar. Your setting will be saved. After that you can toggle between the saved sound and the current settings effectively creating a dual channel amp. You could save a lead guitar sound in the memory and use the ‘live’ sound for rhythm and then switch between the two. The sounds: but first, what in God’s name is COSM? The volume output is impressive and even slightly louder than its predecessor. Thus, the power (especially with the distorted models) is not only enough for the living room but also for smaller gigs without drums. In combination with the sturdy MDF housing, the custom-designed speaker does the rest to make the manageable amount of watts look as fulminant as possible. One of the world’s best-selling guitar amps just got a red-hot companion! The Roland Micro-CUBE RED is a special red-colored limited edition of the Micro-CUBE guitar amplifier. All of the Micro-CUBE’s famous features are onboard the Red edition, including seven COSM amp models, six DSP effects, and a digital tuning fork. The Micro-CUBE RED also features a Recording/Headphones output and stereo Aux input for MP3/CD players, etc. Like its predecessor, the new CUBE can be powered on batteries (LR6 (AA) type x 6) or a supplied AC adapter. It also includes a carrying strap. The MICRO CUBE RX can run on battery or AC power (AC adaptor included). COSM Amps & Digital Effects I read the blurb on the box until the young guitarist finally relinquished control over the amplifier, after which I gave it a try. Immediately I was impressed by the quality of sound — not like a toy at all — and the case was built in the same way as a large amplifier, using wood and metal, not plastic. Nevertheless, it weighed only a little over seven pounds. It took me all of two minutes to decide I had to have it and I bought it there and then. It was only when I got it home that I realized the power rating was only two watts and not the eight or so I’d expected from the volume it put out. I was also intrigued by the claim that it could run for up to 20 hours on half a dozen AA alkali batteries — though I didn’t believe a word of it at the time. With all this, you get enough types of sound in which to play different styles, and considering they are only amp simulations, they do an outstanding job and come quite close to the real thing, considering price point and size. Answer: As a solo guitarist, or singer-songwriter playing on the streets, having to amplify your guitar, have enough effects, and have your voice plugged in separately, I suggest the Street Cube EX would be the best suited for that purpose. Five total inputs, 50W, and the 6″ woofers will allow giving mind-blowing performances possible, however big the crowd may get. Summary
