Description

The Apogee Jam X USB audio interface is currently the world’s only interface to feature analogue compression, available in varying modes to level out your guitar playing while recording, or record with no compression at all. This flexibility for the input signal gives you extra shaping power over your sound before it's even reached any virtual amp sims you might be sending it too. Apogee says that with this at the front of the signal chain, guitarists will experience added sustain and dynamics, or can use Jam X to fatten up weaker source sounds. The Apogee products that came before the Jam series of interfaces have inspired years of riffs, songs and melodies, and the Apogee Jam X is the latest in a long line of useful, practical and well-designed interfaces. The unit plays nicely with multiple operating systems, allowing you to jump between a laptop, desktop computer or an iPad, for example, with no break in audio quality. The Jam X USB is a tool that just about every music maker needs, whether you’re equipped with a full on, home studio situation with a need for a more portable solution, or simple recording equipment that could benefit from professional-grade audio conversion and handy on-board compression. Apogee have again elevated a seemingly perfect design, reinvented in the Apogee Jam X USB Audio interface.

Jam's sound quality is first-generation, Jam's recording resolution and sample rate are 24 bit Up to 44.1/48kHz recording, Jam's input is one 1/4??, It has no output, Jam's connection type is a proprietary connector, Jam's compatibility is with Mac/iOS, Jam's cables included are USB A and Lightning, Jam does not have software included, it does not have low latency monitoring, it does not have overdrive, and its build quality is soft-touch plastic.Jam+ combines a digital overdrive circuit, an instrument preamp, and high-quality A/D and D/A converters into a single, portable device. Apogee has engineered each component of Jam+ to provide the highest-quality signal possible with the least amount of noise - what they term pure-digital. Next, we have the iRig HD 2 digital USB input. It is manufactured by IK Multimedia, a popular brand that develops and sells audio solutions.

Whether you want to send processed or unprocessed signals, the iRig HD 2 digital USB input is up for it. This enhances your playability by giving you total control over your sound quality. Then, you get a lightning cable to connect it to the iOS devices. And if your PC supports a USB-C, that won’t be a problem either, as you get a cable for that as well. iRig HD2 Apogee markets the Jam with the phrase “plug in, play, record”, and in my experience, it’s just that easy. Within 10 minutes of opening the box, I had the Jam unit attached to my iPad and was playing through Garage Band’s nice assortment of simulated amplifiers. The Jam comes with two interface cables, one to connect your guitar to the iPad, and one that can connect your guitar to a USB port on a Mac notebook or desktop computer. With a built‑in analogue compressor, Apogee’s Jam X is designed to get your guitar sound right from the start.

Apogee Electronics recently announced the latest in its jam series of guitar interfaces: Jam X. Building on the original Jam interface from 2010, Jam X provides the easiest way to connect your guitar to a computer or iOS device for studio-quality sound. The company came into being in 2006 and is among the fastest-growing companies in the musical arena. Let’s take a deeper look at it and see how it differs from the Apogee Jam Plus USB input. For the Jazzmaster owners Fender is going bigger with two set options – recognising that its offset model is being embraced by another new generation, while still beloved by established guitar tinkerers. The LED is useful in that it has three colours: blue means that the Jam is connected but not active, green means connected and active, and red means that the signal level has overloaded the input. Usefully, the green LED also gets brighter when a higher signal level is present.

Jam+ is readily compatible with iPhones, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XS, Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE (1st generation), iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5. It effectively reproduces your guitar’s unique tonal qualities, and you can rest assured that you will be getting the best tonal quality. In addition to that, you won’t have to go through any hassle of configuring it. It goes without saying that configuring a device can be a time-consuming and complicated process. Symphony Control App only available in Thunderbolt Audio Interface mode. Firmware update not required.
