The Ultrathon range is available in an eye catching 60ml lotion or a convenient 125ml spray. It comes in two formulas, 25 per cent DEET content for day-long protection of up to 8 hours or 34 per cent DEET content for extended protection of up to 12 hours. Renowned Ultrathon Insect Repellent, from 3M, is now launching in the UK following success in the US. I preferred the lotion formulation as there's less waste - and less random dispersal of the DEET product onto fabrics or car paintwork both of which I gather are prone to damage by any DEET product. markswalkingblog, haven’t tried any other DEET stuff for a few years, I didn’t have such good results, so I was quite surprised by this stuff. The last stuff I had was Mozzy Off which was great, just a bit too oily. Aembleton, DEET is the thing, sometimes a contraversial compound, but it seems to be okay as you don’t go daft with the amount you use.

All the variants seem to to leave a slightly oily feel on the skin - but this does disappear after about half and hour so I didn't find this to be too much of a problem. I’ll keep carrying the Ultrathon and I’ll swap between the cream and spray, they’ve got different concentrations of DEET, the spray having 25% by volume to the cream’s 34% but still proving effective on a trip to the centre of the midge universe.
