About this deal

If you take into account the age you might expect to reach you’ll see what proportion of your life has been used up.

Each row of weeks makes up one year. That’s how many weeks it takes to turn a newborn into a 90-year-old. The best way to change your life around is to create your very own 90 day plan for what you want to focus on next. It might sound painful, but it’s worth it. Currently, My Life in Weeks doesn’t have any military or first responder discounts. Most brands that have military discounts will let you know on their footer. Where can I save at My Life in Weeks in Addition to Using a Coupon? Plot out goals for the future by making a mark on a future box and visually seeing exactly how many weeks you have to get there.Everything you’ve already done is in the past. You can’t change it. But what you can do is look to the future and live the life you want to live. As with every year on earth, I learned a few lessons which are important to me. Here are a few of the most important ones: Don’t judge yourself on other people’s happiness The basic concept of a weeks of your life chart is that on a single piece of paper, or poster, you will see all the weeks of your potential life. By colouring in each week as you live it you’ll see how much time you have used up. You have the weeks of your life 1-52 on the top, and your age along the side. Life calendar printed on A4 paper The deeper you’re willing to dive, the better the result. Get real with your life so far and take a few mins to answer these three questions:

I first saw a ‘weeks of your life’ style calendar advertised to me as I was browsing the web and found the concept intriguing. When I looked more closely I discovered that there are many very similar versions of these life calendars available – some are digital, and some can be bought as a printed out poster. In other words, you have this small spoonful of diamonds and you really want to create a life in which they’re making you happy. And if a diamond is not making you happy, it should only be because you’re using it to make other diamonds go down better—either your own in the future or those of others. In the ideal situation, you’re well balanced between #1 and #2 and you’re often able to accomplish both simultaneously (like those times when you love your job). Looking at this spoon of diamonds, there’s one very clear question to ask: “Are you making the most of your weeks?” I decided to have a go at creating a version of the classic 52 weeks calendar as a fun spreadsheet project. I wanted to set up some formulas so you could enter your age and then it would pre-fill the squares up to that year. If for example you are 30 years old there are 1560 squares that need to be filled in, so you definitely don’t want to do this by hand.I recently made the toughest career decision I have ever had to make: leaving my role as General Manager of Brilliant Hire. Over the span of 3 weeks, I agonized over this decision to the point where I began losing sleep worried about how my team would react to the decision. More than just a team, they are friends, and I worried they would be angry/disappointed/etc of me. Or that the board of advisors would be angry with me. One of the ways we end up in NeitherLand is by not thinking about things hard enough—so one of the most critical skills is continual reflection and self-awareness. Otherwise, you can fall into an unconscious rut and waste a bunch of precious diamonds. As you can see, schooling took up about 1000 weeks of my life. I’m privileged to have been able to study, but damn, that’s a lot of time… Of course, if a diamond is enjoyable but by enjoying it you’re screwing your future diamonds (an Instant Gratification Monkey specialty), that’s not so good. Likewise, if you’re using diamond after diamond to build something for your future, but it’s not making you happy and seems like a long-term thing with no end in sight, that’s not great either.

I’m a 9'er now! This is the year, according to research from NYU’s Stern School of Business, because I am 29, I am more likely to make significant life decisions such as run a marathon, commit suicide, or seek an extramarital affair (well, I’d need to be married for this one). Per the study, “adults undertake a search for existential meaning when they approach a new decade in age … or imagine entering a new epoch, which leads them to behave in ways that suggest an ongoing or failed search for meaning”. I couldn’t find a good spreadsheet for doing this exercise anywhere on the Google sphere. So, I made one . I’m happy to share it with you: Highlight the weeks in the past in different colors to segment them into “life chapters”—i.e. High School, College, Job 1, Job 2, New City, Engagement, Marriage, etc., or maybe a whole other conception of what a life chapter means to you. You can also mark special boxes where key turning points happened.Given that fact, the only appropriate word to describe your weeks is precious. There are trillions upon trillions of weeks in eternity, and those are your tiny handful. Going with the “precious” theme, let’s imagine that each of your weeks is a small gem, like a 2mm, .05 carat diamond. Here’s one: I was curious as to where this idea came from. On 5th December 2012 Craig Weller wrote about a very basic life calendar that he was using where he was filling in the ‘week’ boxes in what is a simple printed 52×80 grid. He calls it a ‘Memento Mori’ chart – it means ‘remember you will die’.

This post is inspired by WaitButWhy’s blog Your Life In Weeks. I strongly recommend reading this piece and more writing from Tim Urban. Take your time with it. I thought about making the spreadsheet more complicated with formulas and auto-fill boxes, but it’s much better when you do it yourself. One slight issue with all of these life calendars is that they list 52 weeks in a year, which of course is not quite accurate. There are 52 weeks + a day or two in each year, which means that at some point in the year you’ll have to fudge one of the weeks. But the worst possible way to use a diamond is by accomplishing neither #1 nor #2 above. Sometimes “neither” happens when you’re in either the wrong career or the wrong relationship, and it’s often a symptom of either a shortage of courage, self-discipline, or creativity. Sometimes “neither” happens because of a debilitating problem. To help both you and ourselves stay conscious and avoid NeitherLand, we’ve created a Life Calendar that lays out every week of your life on one sheet of paper. We don’t typically bring products into posts, but in this case, they go hand-in-hand.
