The Series 3 is Braun’s budget line of electric shavers that supposedly strike a great balance between cost and performance. In that case, you’d be better off with a more advanced razor, even if it means spending more money.I’ve been pretty happy with the build quality of the shavers that Braun produced over the last few years. They are arguably the most comfortable electric razors in this price range as well, so if you have sensitive skin, definitely consider them. This is without doubt the best so far shaver I’ve ever had; I have been electric shaving user for last 31 years and in my time I have had very good shavers (most of them dry shavers); few Philips dry rotary shavers, Remington foil and rotary dry shavers and one Sanyo dry/wet foil shaver; all of them were rechargeable shavers for convenience, normally I dry shave (using pre-electric lotion before shaving) but sometimes I get wet shave with the Braun 340s-4 foil shaver and strictly I have followed the rules of cleaning, lubricating and charging the shavers which paid off as all of them served me not less than 5 years plus of good shaving (except when by accident I have dropped the shaver and it got broken) otherwise I had a Braun dry foil shaver that lasted me 9 years with just one change of cutter and foil until the battery didn’t hold the charge any more and I had to replace it for a Philips rotary dry shaver which lasted 8 and half years without changing the cutters at all until by accident I dropped the shaver and it broke when it hit the floor; looking after the saver will keep it in perfect working condition for you to have a close, clean and smooth shave for many, many years and this is guaranteed. Reply But most users will not really notice the difference and in the case of the 3010s, the results were actually quite pleasing. This is the first time I hear about a 3010s with a hair trimmer. So it appears they did release one, maybe exclusive for the North American market. If it’s cheaper than the 3040s, it definitely makes getting the 3010s instead.

Yes, all the above-mentioned issues can be solved by buying the better shaving head (32b/32s), but that’s an extra cost and you’ll still be left with a smaller battery for example. For example, if you want a really close shave and your facial hair is very coarse, you might want to invest a bit more in a Panasonic Arc 4 shaver.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the battery performance of the 3010s, my only gripe being with that 2-level charge indicator. Shaving performance

The Series 3 shavers work best when used on shorter facial hair, but perform better than other similarly priced foil shavers from the competition when used on a 2 or 3 days beard (the ProSkin models in particular). The 300s can be safely cleaned with water (with the power cord removed, of course) since it is waterproof. It is a dry-only model because it will also work while charging. Again, I think this is one of the main selling points of this particular model, along with its reasonable price.

I will say right off the bat that the Braun Series 3 340s-4 is a very decent budget shaver when it comes to shaving performance and would be a good choice for most men. With a fully charged battery, you will get 45 minutes or approximately two weeks of cordless shaving.

As for the lubrication, I would do it after every cleaning that involves the use of soap. You must place a single drop of oil on the outside of each cutting element (in the case of the Series 3, two foils and one middle trimmer). Let the shaver run for a few seconds so the oil can coat the blades evenly, then pat the foils gently with a paper tissue to absorb any excess oil. TLDR version: it’s an excellent all-around electric shaver, and not just for the money. It’s comfortable, smooth and shaves adequately close.
