And then he drops another bombshell. Quite by accident. He and Norah are trying IVF. They are planning to have a baby together. No, this cannot be happening. Suddenly, Norah is threatening to take everything else away from her carefully laid plans and Alice couldn't let that happen. And so what ensues is one bad decision after another which ultimately leads to Alice sitting in a prison cell awaiting trial for murder. How did it come to this? How did she get here? For me, that was a pleasure to read and kept my attention throughout the entire book, because each secondary character was so heavily involved in one way or another. I was originally drawn to this book by its gorgeous eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'A brand new psychological thriller that will keep you guessing till the end! Perfect for fans of Sue Watson, Nina Manning, Shalini Boland.' I am a huge fan of all three of Shalini Boland and Sue Watson so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Boldwood. I have yet to read a book published by Boldwood that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book). Oh Sally and Amanda know how to capture my interest, grab my attention, and have me hooked just from the prologue alone! They just threw you in the middle of the craziness of the story-and I loved it!! It had a little bit of everything to want you to read on!

The last chapter was amazing, and definitely exceeded my expectations to what I thought was going to happen. Natasha is a new wife and mother. She’s married to a strikingly handsome, wealthy husband who adores her, and a beautiful young daughter she loves with all her heart. Sounds fairly close to perfect...right? We get mostly perspectives from the two women, plus the mysterious Anna... who the reader isn't quite sure about right away. This is a nice thriller with great, interesting characters. I loved the bits of reality about caring for a small child (it's not all fun) and the never-ending twists and turns the story took. Tom, your character seems so perfect at first but then, as you say, we start to see little flashes of anger…A roller coaster ride with amazingly fleshed out characters. If you are tired of reading thrillers where you just can't understand a character's motivation, give this one a shot. You'll question the characters in the beginning, but as the book goes on, Jess Ryder explains them so well and makes you understand their motivations, their weaknesses, their strengths... everything about them. There's plenty of crazy situations in this one, and lots of surprises to keep you on your toes.

My life was perfect until she came along. Norah. Younger, prettier, and about to marry my own ex-husband, they are a walking cliche. I hate her. I hate them both. she's stolen everything from me - my husband, my life, my home - but I refuse to let her take Cassie, my beautiful daughter. Now I've discovered that Nora plans to have a baby of her own and that causes me no end of problems. She could destroy everything and reveal my deepest, darkest secrets. Thank you to Bookouture, NetGalley, and Jess Ryder for an advanced reader copy of The Ex-Wife!I hope to read more of Ryder's books in the future! READ MORE: The Pact star Rakie Ayola says she was never going to be ‘a martyr to acting’ as she wins Bafta Cymru’s most prestigious award Wow, doesn’t this make you want to read this book. Writing this review made me realize the various plots and subplots being played all at the same time making this one twisty read.My first book by author Jess Ryder, I finished it in 2 sittings (I had to sleep at night). The book had everything going for it, written from the women’s point of view. It was nice to get an insight of how each thought. At first you would expect this book to be like many others, where there are divorces and ex spouses. However, this book took a pleasant turn of events where I found myself conflicted with whom I felt was the person to root for. I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily. It is really a shame, because it could have been a great book even with the extra subplots, but I had the feeling that I read the super short version of a full lengty book, and so I feel cheated. Anna - the mysterious third POV. Forever looking over her shoulder, petrified her past is catching up to her.

The first ¾ of the book moves at a fast clip and there were quite a few twists I didn’t see coming. My opinion seemed to change about where it was going with every chapter. But then, the book seemed to hit a speed bump. The pace of the book slowed and I felt like I could see exactly where it was going from then on. The ending was so obvious it was a real disappointment to me. And the climax was totally unbelievable.Natasha is struggling to make it as a barista in the city. Living on a tight budget, she cycles to work daily until one fateful day dramatically changes her life for the better - or so she thought. This book is written in third person perspective with the main protagonists being Alice Hargraves, Cassie Hargreaves, Norah Richmond and DI Belinda Day. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything. A riveting psychological thriller that takes the familiar story of an ex-wife and infuses it with unexpected twists, suspense, and a cast of characters with dark secrets, making it an unputdownable read. Genres covered in this novel include Psychological Suspense, Women's Psychological Thriller, Domestic Thriller, Hard-Boiled Mystery, Crime, Domestic Suspense, Thriller & Mystery Adventures, International Mystery & Crime, Coming Of Age Fiction, Women's Psychological Fiction, Suspense Thriller, Thriller, Suspense, Psychological Thriller, Psychological Fiction, Women's Writers & Fiction, Psychological Literary Fiction, Thriller & Suspense Literary Fiction, Domestic Fiction, Crime, Thriller & Mystery Adventures, British Detective Stories and Mystery amongst others.
