So first of all I wrote Eye of the Needle, which was a spy story leading up to D-Day. And then I started to read military history to find examples of battles and wars where the spy’s action made a difference or might have made a difference. So I got into military history that way. And then my horizons expanded and instead of just writing thrillers I began to write general historical novels – but still looking at real history to find those gems where true history gives you a set of characters whose lives are exciting. When did you know you first wanted to be a writer? We read about the upheaval caused by a new era in manufacturing, the struggle for human rights among the destitute and working classes, the need for improved working conditions, differences between the Anglican and Methodist religions, clashes between the Anglican and Methodist faiths, the ongoing war in Europe led by the powerful Napoleon.

Many of the elements fans love about the other Kingsbridge will also feature in The Armour of Light. In particular: The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Taking the reader straight into the heart of history with the fifth novel in the ground-breaking Kingsbridge series, The Armour of Light is master storyteller Ken Follett’s most ambitious novel to date. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them (Ezekiel 36:27) savor...it's been hard to leave it on my TBR for just the right week to read it. Now I learn there's another one coming! I'm quite tempted to read the prequel and then re-read the trilogy to end with this one later in the year. I probably won't, but I'm tempted. :D
