Description

Caramel apple pie is a great dessert option to try with the Single Barrel. The caramel and oak flavours of the bourbon will enhance the sweet, tart flavours of the apples.

Evan Williams presents a sweet nose, with gentle notes of honey, caramel, vanilla, and a subtle undertone of ethanol. Today, the stills of the Heaven Hill distillery stand proud in downtown Louisville, producing a modest one barrel a day. Why only one barrel? Because Heaven Hill demands a certain level of quality control and care, so only one barrel can be made at a time. Yup. Just. One. At. A. Time. Pour the Evan Williams Bourbon in a glass filled with ice, then fill the glass with lemon and lime soda before stirring well. Place the lime on a side, then serve. FAQsThe nose has both vanilla buttercream and amber caramel with funky vanilla buttercream notes thrown in, all at different points in this huge complex monolithic nose. A hint of green apple creeps in before it moves on to a dry earthy nuance. Some very lightly roasted oak peppercorns and dried orange peel come out and join the fruit and oak and give you a nice touch of sweetness.

Water: Evan Williams strategically built his distillery on the banks of the Ohio River. An all-around source of high-quality water is essential for a distillery to succeed. The Ohio River supplies water to Louisville where it passes through a treatment plant and five riverbank filtration wells. The finish leaves behind a lasting impression of aged leather, providing a slightly sharp and warming sensation, accompanied by persistent spicy notes. I figured coming into this review that Evan Williams Bottled in Bond wasn’t going to catch me off guard with amazing levels of complexity or flavors. Sure enough, what I found was a no-nonsense bottle that delivered an amped-up experience from the regular Evan Williams Small Batch 1783 bottle.

Palate: My initial impression is that this doesn’t taste a day over 5 years old. The graininess I find is pretty apparent. There is enough sweetness to make me not mind, but this isn’t going to blow away your expectations. Heaven Hill’s Evan Williams brand has been budget-priced and widely distributed for several years, but that hasn’t undercut the substantial quality of what the distillery is crafting out of their Louisville campus. Their standard Evan Williams Single Barrel Bourbon is a textbook example of an excellent single barrel bourbon at a great price. The bottle label of Evan Williams emphasizes its heritage and has been ranked as one of the world’s top-selling Bourbon brands. The Heaven Hill Company now manages the Evan Williams, wherein the bourbon is produced in Lexington and bottled in Bardstown. How It’s Made On the palate, it has strong caramel and vanilla. Moreso, we like the sweet oak finish. 3. Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch Its rich and complex flavour profile makes it an ideal choice for a variety of different drinks and foods. Cheese is a classic pairing for this bourbon. Try a sharp cheddar, blue cheese, or Gorgonzola with a glass of Evan Williams for a savoury and complex combination.
