Depending on how you game, the answer can be very different. The best monitors, period, will have more crisp visuals with higher HDR (high dynamic range) rating while standard monitors will have less than dazzling (but still acceptable) graphics. The best gaming monitors, therefore, have higher contrast, brightness, and depth of color so your games look as vibrant and realistic as possible. In reality though, chances are if you're thinking about one of the best ultrawide monitors then you may have an idea about some of the specifications you want, need, and can house. It's probably wise to think about size first as this basically governs everything else, and certainly price, so once you've narrowed that down, you can focus on getting the right specs, curvature, make, and model for you. What is the best size for an ultrawide monitor? Surprisingly, testing gaming monitors is a bit more involved than you might think. It’s more than just watching movies and playing a few games on them – though admittedly, we do quite a bit of that as well. After all, we do have to see how each monitor performs in real-world scenarios. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Screen size: When looking for a gaming monitor, one of the most important things to consider is the screen size. Larger display sizes can lead to more immersive gaming experiences as the game fills more of your field of vision, but you'll also have to make sure that you have the space to keep a large monitor. And, it goes without saying that the larger the monitor, the higher the price as well. All other products will be delivered via the fastest available method (excluding bank holidays and weekends) and generally within 3-5 days, depending on customer location. As mentioned, many gaming-focused models employ a curved screen to provide for a more immersive experience. A common curvature for gaming monitors is 1800R, which means that if you were to place enough monitors side by side to form a circle it would have a radius of 1,800mm (1.8 meters). The higher the curvature number, the gentler or shallower the curve. Conversely, the lower the number, the more drastically curved the panel; we've seen monitors with curvature as extreme as 800R. (Credit: Zlata Ivleva) Ultra-wide gaming monitors have a screen aspect ratio of 21:9 while standard monitors have an aspect ratio of 16:9, so ultra-wide monitors focus on horizontal display. The extra wide display allows for better immersion while gaming because it allows you to see more of the in-game environment than a standard monitor allows.

Sitting up close to this monster initially feels like you’re a naughty two-year-old staring at the TV from way-too-close.But, set this one in your living or gaming room, and you'll have a fast refresh rate, matte screen and gaming-optimized settings, as well as that 1,000 nits of brightness, making it better than most TVs. And, unlike other monitors, it comes with a great set of speakers too. One of the biggest selling points of the Alienware AW2524HF is its incredible 500Hz refresh rate, which blows past most other gaming monitors in the market by a wide margin. And while that is an excellent feature on its own, this monitor has plenty more positives. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium support, which complements the refresh rate and lightning-fast response time, which was most apparent when we tested this out with first-person shooters and other esports games that require little to no latency. Other gaming monitors will have FreeSync, which is the AMD version of G-Sync. While both help balance the framerate of games versus monitor refresh rate, FreeSync works over DisplayPort and HDMI cable. G-Sync, however, only works with DisplayPort. The slim, feature-rich Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is a feast for the eyes and the 32:9 aspect-ratio curved monitor to beat for immersive PC gaming. Its slim, sleek frame, paired with a gorgeous OLED panel, means that this 49-inch curved monitor is sure to impress even the staunchest of ultrawide naysayers. The OLED G9 has exceptional color accuracy and color-gamut coverage for a gaming monitor, not to mention the magnificent contrast that’ve come to expect from an OLED screen. It is also a smart monitor, which means it has access to Samsung’s online gaming hub, as well as other media features you might see on Samsung TVs, including plenty of streaming apps. If money’s not an object and you need to go big and broad, then the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is the monitor to beat. Who It’s For

If you're in the market for the best gaming monitor, know that there are a few things to keep in mind before choosing which display should grace your desk.Bear in mind though that not all gaming monitors are the same. How exactly do you choose the best gaming monitor for you? Well, you need to look beyond picture quality, as some gaming monitors are better suited than others depending on the type of games you play.

These panels are also a good substitute for multi-monitor arrays. A 32:9 monitor is twice the width of a 16:9 monitor with the same vertical pixel count. A 49-inch ultrawide with 32:9 aspect ratio gives you a screen size equivalent to two 27-inch monitors put side by side. (Remember again that screen size is measured diagonally, not left to right.) The 16:9 ratio remains the most popular today. Familiar resolutions such as 720p (1,280 by 720 pixels), 1080p (1,920 by 1,080), 1440p/QHD (2,560 by 1,440), and 4K or UHD (3,840 by 2,160) all have a 16:9 aspect ratio. The first 21:9 monitors appeared in 2012, and 32:9 displays in 2017.Thanks to its picture quality and a design that is only subtly gaming-centric, this is among the best 4K monitors not only for gamers but for regular users who consume a lot of visual media as well. Its delivered flawless detail, impeccable sharpness, and vibrant, accurate colors with its 90% color gamut during testing, and we found it excellent not just for gaming but media consumption as well. The best part is, you don't need to go for a hulking great mass if you don't want to - there's an increasing number of 'smaller' ultrawide monitors inhabiting the 34- and 35-inch spaces which make for perfect entry points into the best ultrawide gaming monitor market. These also tend to demand lower price tags too. However, immersion does increase as you go upwards in size through the 38-inch panels and all the way to the monstrous 49-inch screens from the likes of Samsung. With the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q, you’re getting a lot of value for your money – especially considering the small price of entry. One of the most affordable 4K gaming monitors right now, this 28-incher can swivel, pivot and tilt practically however which way you need it (within reason, naturally) to serve your purpose.
