Daarnaast ontdekken ze dat hij naast zijn werk nog een andere passie had, die een extra onderzoekslijn oplevert. Several characters describe her as beautiful, and a great deal of energy is spent making sure we know she's good looking.

My weakness for french cuisine did cause hold ups in the reading as I diverted from the text to look up the recipe of a particular delicious morcel ( in case it had anything to do with the plot - you understand! Moette has announced his intention to retire and is all set to name his successor as well as name the graduate student recipient of an elite fellowship tied to the Dumas funds. Further reading about Galle's art was necessary for me to appreciate the plot threads and well worth it. Verlaque is assisted by Paulik in interrogating faculty members, students, and those in attendance at a party the night before. Daarom heb ik daar ook totaal geen problemen mee, want hier stel ik mij altijd al op in als ik een verhaal in dit genre ga lezen.Less (but still a lot) of talking about wine, dining and cigars, bigger focus on the mystery and way less relationship drama. Considering the plot involves an examination of the department's funding (the separation of church and state in France means that no public funds can be provided for the study of religious subjects and so public universities do not have theology departments, a paradox which is brushed aside in a single paragraph which makes only limited sense) , the only way colleges can afford to maintain such courses is with the help of the Catholic Church. The head of Aix University’s Theology is expected to announce both the winner of the prestigious Dumas fellowship, and, with his retirement, the appointment of his successor—who will acquire his very luxurious apartment.

I was going to say that I thought Judge Verlaque as something of a cross between George Simenon's Maigret and Colin Dexters Morse but as I am getting to know him better, I am seeing a bit of Jean-Luc Bannelec's Commissaire Dupin in the mix too. Enchanted by the deep blue of the Mediterranean, the olive trees, poppies, irises and that dazzling light, artists found their creativity flourished under the hot sun. Pakuję się, gdy rozmawiamy"), bohaterkę, która "sugerowała, by jej rodzice poszukali terapii" (seek therapy) i wiele, wiele innych.Almost more than anything else, the book is a delight to read for its detailed descriptions of foods and wines, while art—I’d not known before of Gallés glass and ex-votos--, history—during the plague, the town fathers of Aix closed the city gates resulting in the plague passing without the loss of a single life in Aix--, literature—“What will survive of us is love. A page-turning mysterythat transports you to the south of France with its lush portrait of a charming historic town, this continuation of theProven al Mystery series captivates. Lots of background that really does not help solve the case at all, but makes for nice reading and makes the people more human. Plus, if you are reading Aixcentric because you like Aix, you will love all the spot-on descriptions of the town.

M L Longworth sounds great fun – here’s some background on her if you want to know more: http://mllongworth. It's so nice once I have all the challenge-reading out of the way--I can give in to impulse reading and just bring home books that look interesting. Longworth evokes the pleasures of France in delicious detail--great wine, delicious meals, and fine company. The number of suspects and the crime(s), got a bit complicated towards the end, but generally the story went along at a good pace and the main characters continued to be more fleshed out in this their second appearance. So why the blazes does the text include various bits of random French , such as bonjour or merci, etc, basic 4th grade French words that everyone understands?

When the director of the theology department at the university in Aix is found dead, Judge Verlaque is dumbfounded. Or, as he also failed to announce the winner of a lucrative student prize, could it have been one of the students in line for that?
