And of course, as almost always, last but for sure not least, for Anna, wonderful, wonderful Anna, who had this story told to her many walks, encouraged and advised me, and let me know what was good and what could still be improved. This book, it seems like there are too many threads and she's having a hard time keeping track of them all. Inkspell will take you into the book, Dustfinger once came from, and let's see whether you will like to stay there for a while or not! Readers who enjoyed Funke's Inkheart (2003) are in for a treat with this sequel, a stronger book than its predecessor.

Funke usa frases de la saga Harry Potter en los inicios de los capítulos (es decir, los epígrafes) así que esa conexión no me parece casual. Soon after they arrive, Mortola, Basta, Orpheus, and a "man built like a wardrobe" barge into Elinor's house, and take Mo, Resa, Elinor, and Darius prisoner. Instead of repeating Inkheart, Funke has captured the true grit of the Inkworld, where it is populated by horrible people who live for death and despair.

So I am going to review the first book Inkheart alongside the second Inkspell since they are part of a trilogy. This isn't to say that the emotions aren't realistic, or that the characters don't act true to form, or that the story isn't well-plotted.Y termina, obviamente, con un “gancho” para seguir inmediatamente con Muerte de tinta, cuyo título augura mucho sufrimiento. Meanwhile, Farid's warning was for naught because Capricorn's mother, Mortola, is able to surprise and overpower Mo and the others together with Basta. Meggie and Farid, apprentices to the fire-eater Dustfinger, follow him to the Inkworld, the land of the book-within-a-book, Inkheart, after he has been read back into its story by a mysterious man named Orpheus.

Nonetheless, the plot line surrounding his fear of death and his wish to become immortal was still interesting, and certain passages, like Mo binding the Book of Immortality, had me on the edge of my seat. When he finds a crooked storyteller with the ability to read him back, Dustfinger leaves behind his young apprentice Farid and plunges into the medieval world of his past. I mean, as a man from the 'real world' I was disturbed by the fact that a 15 year-old girl being the King's lover did not bother him in the slightest.

That was Meggie’s first thought when she sensed that the letters on the page really had let her through and she wasn’t in Elinor’s house any more, but somewhere very, very different. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Woven in and around the breakneck adventure is the provocative notion that words, and the meanings they carry, are plastic and ever susceptible to change.

It's just a shame that you have to read Inkheart to be able to really understand and enjoy Inkspell. Objectively, I know that taking a week to read a book can in no way count as a slump - but while reading this book I felt like I was in a slump.
