Old masculine masterpiece that would be lauded from here to the Himalayas had it been released as a private blend under the Tom Ford brand and sold for a fortune. I find I detect those aspects - particularly the honey and the jasmine coming to the fore very early on.

As far as I am concerned, besides the magnific scent, this fragrance makes me feel very distinguished and full of confidence, a real number one boss of the world. s the fantastic decade of brilliant fragrance with Drakkar Noir, Gianfranco Ferre Man Original, Obsession for Men. I am able to down a bottle only by spraying it on my hand and sniffing it all day long :-) I am doing it right now. You could place Boss number One , Giorgio Beverly Hills, Kouros, perhaps Ted Lapidus PH in the same league. The development is gorgeous, not for the faint hearted, it has that urinal vibe going on for a bit, a bitterness that tends to put some folks off this juice. The florals waste no time in making their appearance, with the rose and jasmine coming in loud and clear.

although the patchouli is subdued in comparison, still earthy, just not nearly as prominent as the patchouli you'd find in GG.This is a gentleman scent intended to catch modest sillage, not a power scent that takes over a room. Since my earlier review, I realized after reading some of the other reviews, I left out lemon as one of my fave ingredients in this scent. Once it dries down a little, the honey is revealed in its full splendor, all while being supported by tobacco and oakmoss (among its 25+ other notes, of course). My believe is that reformulations are necessary over time, to keep a classic scents relevant to the forces of the retail market.

I can't speak for the 'non-Number One' labeled bottles of the past, but aside from tree moss being farther down the ingredients list in the new formulation, the differences are negligible compared to roughly a decade+ ago. Gorgeous fragrance, slightly soapy and somewhat fresh at the top, mellows down to a LUSCIOUS honey/tobacco/patchuli combo! I don't get the brutal strength some people here describe; it projects nicely for the first few hours, all in all lasting around 7 hours with one spray on my wrist.

At first 5 minutes after spraying, it gives me a strange (but nice) smell , like a green odeur perfume you identify in fresh cleaned bathrooms, a smell i would say i encountered few times as a child in some luxurious hotel/restaurant lavatories, weird to say. Listen, only a CEO, bossman who is at least 45 years old, in shape, dresses in suits, has a nice place and nice car could pull this off in modern times. Hugo Boss does not have similar scents, at least nowadays, and by chance I ended up discovering another faintly related scent in Givenchy Gentleman (the original), another masterpiece that I use on a regular basis now. They are also both anamalic feeling at the opening which will put some people off, but don't fret, if you do get that note (i normally don't) it will disappear in 5 minutes. It then develops into a warm and masculine heart note of honey, cinnamon, and jasmine, adding a sophisticated and sensual dimension.
