Though he didn’t know the group–Giger preferred to listen to jazz–he agreed to the cover and to the promo videos, even directing when the original director didn’t show. Like the rest of the world since, Stein was taken with Harry’s charisma, her spirit and – of course – her style.

Chris is convinced that Giger's brand of xenozoology has infected the world, reaching fevered levels. The group toured and performed throughout the world during the following years, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. Yet, the outcome was absolutely glorious; the cover art sees Harry’s face pierced by several spikes whilst retaining her striking beauty. Their first two albums contained strong elements of punk and new wave, and although highly successful in the UK and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground band in the US until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978.Harry’s trademark blonde hair is turned black, denoting the dark aesthetic turn of their concept, and she is dressed in a half-human, half-machine bodysuit. Harry continued to appear in independent films throughout the 2000s, including Deuces Wild (2002), My Life Without Me (2003) and Elegy (2008). Blondie co-founder, guitarist, producer, photographer and co-host of cult cable show TV Party, Chris Stein began shooting in 1968 and hasn’t put the camera down since. The poster is artistic,” snapped Debbie, “Giger was having acupuncture treatment when I asked him to design the poster.

Just his work ethic alone was so focused, he was a credit to anyone who considers themselves creative. Instead the commercial flatlining of the album threw Harry off-track, while Giger went on to be the go-to album artist for metal and punk bands, from the Dead Kennedys to Bloodbath. Skeletons, skulls and sculptures are all part of the scenery, along with a “temple” accessed by a big human-shaped doorway.Stein’s photographs expands on the previously released peeks into Giger’s lavish, fabulously creepy home, built like an old abandoned grotto, centered around Giger’s horror paintings and statues, complete with dark corridors, and those eerie squeaky doors and stairs of a recluse’s hovel in a vine-covered corner where the artist acknowledged being scared by his own Alien creature while walking at night in the dark. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Afterward, he worked with harder-edged bands, including Celtic Frost, Carcass, Danzig, and Triptykon.

A new book, Giger: Debbie Harry Species – Creating the Visual Concept for KooKoo , will document the early Eighties collaboration between the Blondie frontwoman and artist H.

The stories behind the collaboration are really cool and it’s finely printed to capture the richness and subtle details of Giger/Stein’s compositions. Harry continued to pursue a solo career with varied results after taking a few years off to care for partner Stein, who was diagnosed with pemphigus, a rare autoimmune disease of the skin.

Blondie reunited in the late 1990s, releasing No Exit (1999), followed by The Curse of Blondie (2003). Born in 1940 to a chemist’s family in Chur, Switzerland, he moved in 1962 to Zurich, where he studied architecture and industrial design at the School of Applied Arts. She now has over 30 film and television roles to her credit, including "Union City" (1980), "Videodrome (1983)", "Hairspray" (1988), "Body Bags" (1993), and "Heavy" (1995).Chrysalis, the record company releasing Koo Koo, was informed that the poster was deemed offensive to children and old folk.
