While I love this day bag the lack of usable water pockets is a major downside for me so I am on a hunt for another bag but trust me it’s not easy to find something this awesome.

Airlines don’t always specify how big a personal item can be, but the general guideline is that it should fit easily under the seat in front of you. It’s a little bare-bones and so if you want to keep things neat and tidy, you might want to also purchase some packing cubes, a nice toiletry bag, or some kind of travel organizer. A counterpart to their best-selling Farpoint series, the Fairview benefits from the same great features but with a female specific back system.There are also small gear loops scattered around the exterior of the bag, but considering how dangly it is already, we don't feel like we want to add to that, so they tend to go unused. However if you could only just fit your gear into the old main bag you will now have to take less or get used to using the daypack for gear storage not just excursions. Before I zipper up the straps, I sometimes tuck in a hoodie or jacket that I usually have hanging in the front and zipper it up along with the straps. For very tall, narrow-hipped people, we find that the pack often sits a little too high, but if you have an average to shorter torso with larger hips or simply prefer to wear your pack high on your hips, you may find the fitting of this bag to be right up your alley. The benefit of having 2 separate packs is that you can leave your big pack at your accommodation and use the other during the day.

There’s a couple of compression straps in the bottom of the pack to help with forcing all of your travel essentials in and a mesh pocket great for storing laundry or a light jacket. Inside the Fairview 55 day bag there are 2 pockets – one perfect for storing a 15″ laptop and the second for a tablet or documents.

My only con for this is not the size of the zipper rings but that the pulls on the zipper are somewhat awkwardly placed, and if the bag is completely open, it can be hard to get the zipper started to close it back up. The only downside to this bag is how useless the mesh pockets are when it comes to holding any size water bottle. After testing the Farpoint 70 on the road for 5 months, we can safely say that the series can take anything you can throw at them!
