Description

This is the second installment of the Cogheart Adventure series, a charming an enjoyable tale of courage.

Beautifully written, fast-paced, funny and full of interesting characters that make you want to read on at the end of every chapter. As usual, poor Malkin is trying in vain to keep the kids from getting into too much trouble but they don't listen and instead they are off on an adventure to London via airship. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example.Lily and Malkin, the mechanical fox, must stay one step ahead before Jack play his final, deadly card. Moonlocket is the second installment in the Coghearts series, but you don't need to have read the first book to enjoy this one. We follow Lily, Malkin and Robert as they try to catch a famous criminal in Victorian, steampunk London. The book gets dark and violent sometimes, which was good because I often find middle-grade books writing about, for example, a dangerous man who has killed someone yet he barely harms anyone in the book.

This brilliant sequel to Cogheart is full of daring, danger and family secrets in a richly imagined world that will sweep you away.Meanwhile, young Robert tries to find information about his mother, who abandoned Robert when he was only a baby. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. It has great lead characters and is set in a unique way with the steampunk theme that you very rarely see in books. Peter grew up in London in a rambling Victorian house with 3 cats, 2 dogs, 1 little sister, an antique dealer dad and an artist mum. The thing that really made me fall in love with this book is its theme of friendship and family, and what it really means, what truly makes us human.

Somehow, at this point in the story you just know that Lily and Robert are going to become entangled with the notorious jewel thief! The surprises kept coming, and the author manages to weave emotion into the proceedings of the story and truly is laudable. I was pleased by the aspect of this book that focuses on him finding his mom and I also believe that Robert dealing with the grief of losing his Da was realistic. This is the second book in the Cogheart series by Peter Bunzl and once again we are immersed in the totally believable steam-punk setting of Victorian England that he created in Book 1. He always wanted to tell stories, and as a child found inspiration visiting film and TV sets where his mum worked as a costume designer. These quotes feel really relevant and important to me considering what's been happening over the last couple of days, but the second is important and doubly special to me because it is something so deeply true about our current society and I respect Peter for using Lily's difference to make sure children know that it's okay to be different.

It’s a trope that works perfectly with this story, and there are enough fresh ideas sprinkled throughout that doesn’t make it feel overplayed.i love how the backstories of the main characters get revealed in this one, and how the mystery goes on.
