When an old high school friend is murdered on the Côte d’Azur while auditioning for the hit TV travel show “Americans See Europe,” Maggie is forced to break away from village life and new motherhood to find the killer. They obviously like each other and some of their dialogue is very humorous, but Harry has issues to deal with before they can progress. I feel there's some good potential between the pair and look forward to seeing what they get up to next. That another murder has occurred doesn’t take much deducing: the knife sticking out of his back strongly suggests it was no accident.

In Murder in the Village, the first in the Belinda Penshurst series of mysteries, we meet Belinda Penshurt, who is a little over forty and living in her family home—the village manor/castle—in the village of Little Challham. The books are full of twists and turns, told with a directness and lack of unnecessary detail that makes them very easy to read.

Harry and Belinda work together to uncover the culprit, while investigating dognapping leading to pregnant thoroughbred dogs.
