Keepability [4] – It’s an X-wing – one of the most iconic Star Wars ships – so even with its small problems, makes it a very collectable set.

Unfortunately, the tricky shaping does mean that the panels still have a little bit of wiggle room on the final model, but they do look good. Luke has a double-sided head to show him with his visor retracted, and he uses the same Rebel helmet mould first introduced in 1999. It has a four-legged design which replicates the display stand on the original 2000 UCS X-wing set, and looks good despite its simplistic design.

The arm print and dual-moulded/printed legs really takes this figure up a notch, and it is a deserving standout in any LEGO Star Wars minifigure collection. R2, meanwhile, is the same version that appeared in 75339 Death Star Trash Compactor, notably featuring printing on the back of the body! Total: 44/50 It's a mini and should be reviewed as one, of course you aren't getting any minifig's, and the piece count is going to be low.

They do move around even if you’re just picking up the X-wing to move it from one point to another, and while the wings won’t fall off it just feels quite unstable. you can't expect much more, especially in the Star Wars line, again you are paying for the design as well as the handful of parts. The side panels are angled in two directions and taper towards the nose, using some clever build techniques to get the shaping right. The display stand angles the X-wing upwards so if you have it on a high shelf you probably will see the underside.Playability: 10/10 It's a great little ship to swoosh, you can adjust the wings, and it looks great. The only thing worth noting is that the 4 clear bricks I used as stands do not come with this set, those are from my personal collection. The UK version which was given away in a promotion has a different polybag design to that released in the US.

Build: 8/10 I ranked this an 8 due to the ease of building, the pose ability, and the sturdiness of the model, it doesn't break easily. I must say TLG did a good job on the wings and the thrusters for this mini, it really looks accurate. The angled panels on the side of the body wiggle slightly when you grab the model, and feeling the wings move around in multiple directions feels quite disconcerting, especially on a model this large.

LEGO made new 3×3 curved panels which look wonderful for the external bodywork, while 2×2 tiles are placed on their side to represent the intakes. It’s significantly out of scale though which throws off the look of the model – I’d have preferred if the designers included a printed 3×3 dome instead.
