Description

Mark is a multi award winning investigative reporter and has amongst his awards, two Royal Television Society, a Broadcasting Press Guild and an International Peabody. Describing him as a religious, nice bloke who was an innocent victim of circumstance who mistakenly shot to death his girlfriend is bizarre.

Join former police detective and a criminologist Mark Williams-Thomas for an eye-opening talk about complex cases he has. To describe me as anonymous would be unfair but to notice me other than in passing would be a rarity. You will come away from reading this book feeling not depressed or down in anyway but reassured that if something awful were to happen in your world, something akin to the cases the author discusses in such detail in the book that he is the man you would want on your case. His unending compassion and commitment to helping other people is refreshing and this shines through throughout the entire book and it is this noteworthy component that makes it such a beautiful book to listen to. Mark Williams-Thomas has raised the bar in this genre of writing and in the context of the audiobook he has added another string to his bow. The author began his career as a police detective but became disillusioned so switched to become an investigative journalist. This is written about in a very matter of fact and practical way without being sensationalist or going into lots of detail. I found a couple of the cases difficult to read and there is a section about a human body disintegrating and what happens in the process.

If you are a fan of audiobooks you will love this book but if you are new to audiobooks and you are looking to try out an audiobook as an alternative to another format, then this is the book for you. As most readers of non-fiction crime I am interested in the "how did they catch him" for invariably it usually is a him. Mark Williams -Thomas is a respected retired police detective and has since made a name for himself as a criminal investigator but I don’t understand him at all. Over the years, many of these have remained unsolved and Mark I think will change the way this is looked at as it doesn't matter how many years have passed, it is important to the memory of that person that crimes are officially solved. This talk will leave you fascinated and enthralled as Mark gives you a unique insight into the lives of killers.

The author read the audio a tiny bit odd with pauses in the wrong places which became quite obvious as the book went on.

It would make a great holiday read and in contrast it would not be out of place in an academic setting as a text, a learning tool.
