Description
Kenwood have billed this model as their smallest food processor to date, and it certainly feels that way. For a while it was looking like the world’s most expensive kitchen scales but eventually, we got there and once we did, it did the job very well. Our favourite has to be the accurate built-in scales, which weighs directly into the jug – this saves so much time and the need for other equipment on a busy work surface. We cleaned it by hand after each test and like all food processors, the number of parts coupled with the sharp nature of most of the attachments means it’s tricky to clean and it’s safest tackled with the brush to avoid accidents.
Additionally, some of the nuts got trapped on the top lip of the bowl and spilled into the larger bowl when we removed the lid, which meant we also had to clean the larger bowl despite not having used it. The mini chopper attachment was particularly useful for creating dips with garlic – although, as it slots in upside down, we’d recommend avoiding adding any juice until afterwards. Most enable you to slice veg far faster than you could with a knife, whizz herbs for a garnish or mix a bread dough in seconds. litre bowl may be smaller than some, but the double-stacked blades ensure that every ounce of space is used well and that there's no uneven chopping. Whatever you like to bake, there’s no denying that the humble stand mixer is the hardest working piece of kit in the kitchen. The largest can be up to four litres – ideal if you batch cook or have a big family – but for everyday jobs 1.
The only other downside we found was that since the chopping blades sit slightly higher, we needed to scrape down the sides of the bowl more often. The brushed stainless steel food processor has two large paddle buttons, one for “on” and one for “off/pulse,” which are all you really need. This food processor doesn’t come with too many bells and whistles, but for sheer functionality – not to mention looks – it’s up there with the best.
Before choosing the best food processor for you, you need to ask yourself which functions you’d like it to perform. Look for a good-quality BPA-free plastic bowl and lid so they’re robust enough not to have to be replaced in a few years. We were not able to evaluate the additional functions and features during our testing, so they may be great, but we can't speak to those at this time. If space is at a premium in your kitchen, this innovative stand mixer by Morphy Richards is a compact alternative. A food processor is an appliance that purees, slices, crumbles, minces, grates, shreds, emulsifies, dices, mixes, kneads, and more. The proprietary Blendermix insert moves the food around in the bowl, so it blends more smoothly and results in a creamy texture, like a blender. Dough kneading, meanwhile, should always be done on a low food processor setting so it’s stretched rather than spun around the bowl.
