Description

Created by Hephaestus and released into the world of men to bring both misery and hope, Pandora is a figure whose name conjures an expectation of mythic drama; but Susan Stokes-Chapman’s bestselling debut novel only hints gently at those possibilities. Our aim at Pandora Books has always been to provide you with as much choice of the very best children’s fiction for primary schools, with as much added value, as we can. We are a team of book experts that specialise in curating books for schools, reducing teachers’ workload by offering collections that meet schools’ needs. Intrigued by her uncle's peculiar behavior, Dora turns to young, ambitious antiquarian scholar Edward Lawrence who eagerly agrees to help. Tak jak ogromnie urzekł mnie jej klimat, tak uważam, że portrety bohaterów mogłoby być dużo lepiej rozwinięte i przedstawione, a sama fabuła dużo płynniejsza.

The colour bands commonly begin at Lilac(Reception aged child starting to share wordless books) and are available up to Black Plus(super-confident Year 6) from many educational publishers and school suppliers of ‘real’ books.Much like The Essex Serpent, it straddles that divide in such a way that you’re never entirely certain. Most publishers and educational suppliers use a standardised colour palette nowadays, although there are some exceptions and alternatives offered. The banding criteria for books levelled Pink to White is firmly rooted in the original work produced by The Institute of Education in ‘Book Bands for Guided Reading’ and the supplementary ‘Which Book and Why’.

The ending was rather complex, but a book that tackles so many intricate details and myths is bound to be, and it was achieved very well. Napisana barwnym językiem, już od pierwszych stron ukazuje wyjątkową historię, która jednak mnie osobiście nie przypadła do gustu, aż tak jak się spodziewałam. However, her interest only grows in a different direction when the secrecy, value and historical reference attributed to this piece of antique comes to light. Each character additionally has their own mysteries and secrets to them and I was turning the pages to discover more!

Not that I disliked Dora and Edward, but it's the usual pairing and I do like more memorable characters. In addition to Brown, Grey, Dark Blue and Dark Red Books, schools will find Black and Black Plus levels just as useful to them. If you were instead hoping for Edward to be involved in a romance with his friend and benefactor Cornelius - as is heavily implied at the start - then you will be left disappointed. Knowing this Pandora quietly ekes out her life in the background wishing that one day the custom jewelry pieces she dreams of making for the gentry will one day catch someone's eye and allow her to prosper on her own.I can’t definitely see why it was compared to Sarah Perry’s work, and I can’t wait to get a physical copy to shelf next to The Essex Serpent. Dora is desperate to escape from her uncles’ care, and is hoping to turn her love of drawing and jewelry making into a career, giving her the independence she craves. These transpire to be more akin to magical realism than fantasy and along with the double meaning of the title, bring a lot of promise that something mesmerising awaits at the end. For thisreasonPandora Books collate specific book collections for confident readerswhereextraemphasis is put on the contentbeingabsolutely spot on and not inappropriate for their chronological age whilst the book band level is higher. The characters are mostly likeable and there is enough intrigue and beautiful storytelling to keep the reader interested to the end.
