The Grand Slam tournaments, also referred to as majors, are the world's four most important annual professional tennis tournaments. This is not just any Christmas countdown; it’s an invitation to experience the magic of Kinder’s beloved chocolate creations. Wimbledon is the oldest tournament, founded in 1877, followed by the US in 1881, the French in 1891 (major in 1925), and the Australian in 1905, but it was not until 1925 that all four were held as officially sanctioned majors. He suggested that this and the similar incident from 2012 [44] are calculated provocations, allowing Court to portray herself as the victim and use the publicity to her advantage, and show that "for better or worse, Court is now the principal architect of her own image". In the Open Era, Rod Laver, Björn Borg, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are the only players to accomplish the feat in men's singles, and Margaret Court, Evonne Goolagong, Billie Jean King, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf and Serena Williams in women's singles.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame states "For sheer strength of performance and accomplishment there has never been a tennis player to match (her). The tournaments are overseen by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), [3] rather than the separate men and women's tour organizing bodies, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and Women's Tennis Association (WTA), but both the ATP and WTA award ranking points based on players' performances in them. These were Jack Crawford in 1933, [149] Lew Hoad in 1956, [150] and Novak Djokovic in 2021 [151] in men's tennis, and Martina Navratilova in 1984 [152] and Serena Williams in 2015 [153] in women's tennis. Voting rights were divided based on the perceived importance of the individual countries, with Great Britain's Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) receiving the maximum six votes.

At her final Australian championships (played in December 1974), she suffered only her second defeat in the singles prior to the final in all her appearances at the event, losing to Navratilova in a quarterfinal. Before then, the World Hard Court Championships was considered the premier clay championship in France as it admitted international competitors, and it is therefore often seen as the true precursor to the modern French Open. In 1983, she gained a theological qualification from the Rhema Bible Training Centre, and in 1991 was ordained as an independent Pentecostal minister and so speaks publicly about her faith.
