When I reviewed Interstellar during its initial theatrical release I said, "While stupendously broad in scope and epic space adventure, Nolan's "Interstellar" is also frustratingly jam-packed with so much explanation that there's little left up to the imagination. The wide color gamut and crisp, bright, imagery, enrich the sense of realism when looking at differing environs, whether lit by natural or artificial lighting. Come join the discussion about home audio/video, TVs, projectors, screens, receivers, speakers, projects, DIY’s, product reviews, accessories, classifieds, and more! The Space Suits (HD, 4:31) — Here we have a look at the design and build of the suits and helmets, and what it was like to wear those 30-35 pound monsters.

My audio/video ratings are based upon a comparative made against other high definition media/blu-ray disc. However, the real accomplishment in this production is Nolan incorporating real science into a relatively straightforward plot and successfully making the whole thing impressively entertaining, littered with spectacular, marvelous visuals that effectively leave an impression. Honestly, I think that’s why it took a couple more viewings for me to truly bask in the awesomeness that Interstellar can be if you let it in and not dismiss it simply because you didn’t understand it the first time. Glad to see 4K's releasing along side the BRD copies on new films so it's only on the older films being re-worked and that I'm interested in that I take the hit to wallet for the double dip. Examples can be seen during the launch sequence, followed by the beautiful shots of the Endurance approaching Saturn, illuminated by the Sun’s touch. You see, when it comes to the 40 something-year old director Christopher Nolan, in my opinion he’s earned the right to make a mistake or two and I’ll stand by the man, support him and walk in blindly to whatever his name is attached to no matter what, just like I did for Man of Steel last year.

Occasionally I found myself struggling to hear dialog especially when blended with an active sequence shared by effects and music. You are completely immersed in this one and obligated by the aggression of it at times while others swept under the spell of the tender, heart wrenching moments. It didn’t hurt the film with a freshly-crowned Oscar winner by the name of Matthew McConaughey in the lead role, either. Former NASA pilot Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) lives on and maintains a working farm with his, 10-year-old daughter Murphy, 15-year-old son Tom, and father-in-law Donald.

And despite all of this ambitious scale, Interstellar is also Nolan's most emotional voyage, using it as a tether to help understand the scientific concepts and costs. That said, when the film launches us into space, and the screen opens up to envelope the IMAX footage - the most amount of IMAX footage Nolan had ever employed - the picture quality somehow, impossibly, attains a whole new level of perfection, soaking up the amazing space sequences and making for some of the best demo footage you'll likely ever see.
