Now it comes to using this jig and it is similar to whether you have a fixed base or a plunge router. The fixed base is easy, the plunge router requires an extra step. With both routers, you select the blank that will give you the depth you want. With the fixed base router you simple set that depth and now your router will cut to the depth you have set it at. Flat area works well for setting cutter height. The gauge works just as accurately for measuring the height of cutters. Measure router cutter or tooling hight up to 80mm ( 0- 3.1”) with a maximum depth of 70mm ( 2.90") for measuring mortices and slots exchanging the threaded flat anvil pad for the threaded pin anvil. Easily switches readings from metric to imperial or fractions at a touch.

Next, I needed to cut a hole, roughly in the middle of the base. This hole needs to be big enough to accommodate your larges router bit, and/or whatever hole saw you happen to have, or even a large Forstner bit would work in many cases. I made mine 2.75 inches which is a bit large, but as long as it fits you router bases and bits, any size will work.
