Thumbs up if you enjoyed our Megaboy story. Yay! I definitely did and I am very pleased with all the wonderfully completed pieces of work I received from you all

ELIOT MIDNIGHT SUPER HERO KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER ELIOT MIDNIGHT SUPER HERO KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER

Share and enjoy My Mum is a Supermum. Why does Milo think his mum might be a supermum? What superpower does he think she has? Do children have any suspicions that they have a ‘super’ relative at home?!

Get to know us

Use words like First, Second, Next, Then, After that, Finally to begin your sentences. You can also number your sentences. Well, over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be diving into another superhero themed book. I am sure you can guess from the title of the post- ‘Eliot- Midnight Superhero’ by Anne Cottringer.

This is a popular theme with teachers and children in KS1

Like Megaboy, Eliot is just a normal boy who has special powers and uses his clever skills to help others. He reminds me of every one of you as you are all superheroes in your own way.

Keep up to date with your professional development

Reread My Mum is a Supermum. Look at the two illustrations, comparing the features of a mum and a supermum. Could we create a picture of a superkid/child? Draw a sketch, adding features with children’s input, e.g. ‘ Invisibility jumper, X-ray glasses, turbo trainers’ etc. What superpowers might this hero have? You can make story maps in different ways. Probably the most common way is to draw the story ‘journey’ as a pictorial map. Pie Corbett is the master of story mapping and lots of schools adopt his method. Below you can see him in action. Note how he uses actions as well as the map to help children learn and re-tell the story, Below is my story map of Eliot Midnight Superhero. See if you and your child can read it together or make your own for this, or a favourite story. I have decided to change this week’s writing task as we are approaching the end of our superheros topic and moving on to aspects of our theme on Flight after half term. This week, I have assigned two different activities- one on Eliot- Midnight Superhero and the other on a new book titled Supertato by . You only need to attempt one of the activities.

Eliot Jones, Midnight Superhero- superheroes, superhero story, Eliot Jones, Midnight Superhero- superheroes, superhero story,

He’s the superhero with eyes everywhere – but now there’s a pea on the loose. A very, very naughty pea. Has Supertato finally met his match? Listen to the story to find out! Think of yourself as a super hero – What would you call yourself? What special powers do you have? How would you save the day/ the world? Share and enjoy Eliot: Midnight Superhero. What makes Eliot a midnight superhero? When is midnight? Introduce on Monday (send a copy home). Rehearse and chant during week, waiting to go to lunch, to focus on carpet, for fun! Develop performance and add actions. Print off the template so children can make a poster advertising Eliot’s services. What can he do? What skills does he have? Make a junk model superhero machine

Engage children with digital learning

Story maps are a really powerful resource for children who are still developing their reading fluency. They also help teach children about story structure, a very important part of learning to read. Write sentences to describe Supertato. I would love to see a good range of adjectives (describing words).
