I hated Maya so much and I cannot put my frustration into sentences; you just have to read this book to understand my pain because I can't- before i’d read this book, i’d made hating on the spanish love deception my main personality trait but now it’s hating on the spanish love deception AND this book. yes, i did know that this would be terrible because i very intentionally asked for bad book recommendations (thank you diana, i am traumatised) but i still expected something better than this. One of the things that I liked, except Ani, was the texting interactions between the two main characters. That shined on Rowan's character more. It did bring more colors to the mundane romance.

But in what did she graduate? Arts in Communications. What does she want to do with this? Become an influencer. Anyways, lazy recommendation aside...I came into this with the right set of expectations because I knew this was a romcom. Noah is supposed to be 30, but he definitely reads as a 21-year-old frat boy. It was really hard for me to think of him as a 30-year-old man with the way he talked, specifically how he talked about women. That's where some of the cheesy lines and dialogue came in. The son of the famous F1 pilot, following his father’s footsteps. Now one of the world’s best wins a race after the race. But it does not come without competence and dedication, which includes competing with other drivers. ROWAN This man had one genuine personality trait and that was his passion for drawing. It was so cool to see someone who acts all tough have a creative side (i know the bar is in hell). However, he was straight up rude on so many occasions... IMMA PASS.With coming as a Wattpad bad boy reject, there is also a plethora of other stuff that comes with him as baggage. Playboy lifestyle, daddy and mommy issues, you know the gest. So her brother getting into one of the big F1 teams at the time is very stonks for her. She can follow him around in the name of vlogging and establish herself as a vlogger, and something more than Santi Alatorre's sister. But oh no! She has the hots for her brother's new teammate! Being in kahoots with your brother's rival is an absolute no-no. Honestly, this was spicier than the love hypothesis and the hating game combined, we get 3-4 amazing sex scenes, they are pretty explicit as well. The dirty talk was awesome and not cringy at all. Rowan exudes BDE and I liked the way he talked to her. I was invested with Noah and Maya and they had some really sweet moments. Some of their witty banter was great, some fell a little bit flat for me. then he whisks her away to New York and plans a whole book event and meet and greet with her favourite author... then immediately rebukes that she’s his gf. it made zero sense and was so annoying to read. like if he was doing the bare minimum while insisting they were causal, fine. but when they talk like a couple. act like a couple. think like a couple. then they’re a couple.

The side plot- Dreamland park. Now this is where the author gained some points from me. The romance was so bad, that the development of the park seemed much more entertaining to me. I’ve always prided myself on the ability to remove my emotions from any kind of business decision.” Santiago cut in front of Liam at the last turn. Don’t underestimate him, he wants the win.” More chatter echoes through the radio. As to why I subtracted .75 star? I don't know, I guess it was sort of predictable and I wish the banter and angst lasted longer. For example, Rowan is super insecure by the fact that he's a good artist so he hides that fact from Zahra. When Zahra needs to find someone to illustrate her ideas, Rowan gave Zahra the number of a guy he made up, Scott, and pretended to be him for a while, like at least a month. The whole aesthetics of the book was amazing, it didn’t feel as though I was reading at all. I could so vividly imagine everything so clearly and it felt as though I was there with them travelling and at the races. This book has absolutely made me in love with F1 and I am so grateful that I read it.

This is as much romance as it is somewhat diving into their world as race car drivers, which is obviously the entire appeal of Noah Slade. The sarcastic, successful jerk who the media dubs as a playboy who takes no shit from anyone. Quite the family, right? A broken, mangled history of missed birthdays, uncelebrated holidays, and empty bleachers at most Formula races. The only reason they both attended this Prix was because Dad wanted to reminisce while Mom showed off to her friends how grand life is for someone who birthed a racing all-star. Neither one came for me. The vlogger princess from Spain. Maya Alatorre is a fiery Latina who is sarcastic, strong-willed, and opinionated. Her devotion to her family was very moving but the suppression of her wild side was saddening. She holds her ground and manages her own life, but her desire for Noah puts her relationship with Santi in jeopardy. Maya maintains her connection with Noah hidden, snatching kisses and short moments, fearful of her brother’s response.

So he is a F1 driver, and two years after the incident that cost him the WC, he gets a new teammate in the form of Santiago 'Santi' Alatorre. A twenty-four year old Spanish prodigy who debuted in Formula One at twenty-one (which is supposed to be revolutionary, while in real F1 drivers have debuted at the ripe age of seventeen), who in fact was the only bearable character in this whole story. And that is when he meets Maya. I didn’t hate or dislike the book, but I wasn’t super in love with it either. There are parts of the dialogue that I think could have been excluded. The entire story occurs within ten months or so, so as it progresses from chapter to chapter, you’ll get some where several weeks pass by vs several days. I place a palm against my race suit. “Well, shit. Someone told me I was driving for a top F1 team, but maybe I shouldn’t have believed them.”I don’t need my characters, heroes in particular, to always be emotionally equipped to handle their feelings. I enjoy them feeling stunted for a while and it’s nice to see and go on that journey of growth with them. Still, his main enemy is Santiago Alatorre, who deprived him of the opportunity to win championships two years ago. So, as the new season begins and Santi is a new partner in the Bandini racing team. I mean, it isn’t anything groundbreaking or new when it comes to the romance genre but does it need to be? Not necessarily. that being said. i liked the moments i liked... if that makes sense. if i could cut all the useless shit out of this book, the way this would be soooo good. it had the bones of a good book, just Lauren Asher needed to decide what she wanted this book to be. slowburn or insta-lust? then the grumpy-sunshine, the workplace aspect with forced proximity and the boss and employee dynamic, the talking online but not knowing you know each other in real life...
