The new magnetic driven motor is quieter and the way it works produces a cleaning sensation that is similar, but different. Power isn’t normally promoted or documented as it is a small part of the toothbrushing experience. More power doesn’t necessarily equal a better clean. Your total brushing time and technique have a big part to play.

It does too come with a premium travel case, similar to that of the Genius X, which allows the brush to be charged whilst inside. However, like the X, this requires a separate proprietary power adapter. Both brushes come with thestandard ‘Daily Clean’ mode. They both then have a Sensitive mode. It is only the Pro 3 3000 that has the ‘Whitening’ mode. The Genius 8000 launched as a cut-down, value version of the original Genius 9000 brush, and it still feels like a high-end toothbrush despite its price. It also gives an excellent clean, with a choice of six brush modes and three brush heads – CrossAction, 3D White and Sensitive – to cover a wide range of dental needs. Its Lithium-Ion battery still needs charging overnight but will last for over an hour of brushing from there on in, which should cover you for a couple of weeks.

The Smart 6 travel case is better than some of the cheaper models. It is a white colour and is fairly robust. A smaller and final difference between the two models is the colour of the brush handles, or more precisely the rubber grip that runs down the front of it. What do we mean? Well in the box comes a smartphone holder with the Genius 9000. It has a suction cup on it that needs to attach to a mirror or wall in your bathroom. You put your smartphone in before brushing, stand in front of it and the app, camera, and brush work together to give you this data.
