These adaptations can be truly extraordinary: fish that walk or lay eggs on leaves in mid-air; snakes that fly; flightless birds that graze like deer; and bears that grow hair on the soles of their feet.Signed first edition (First edition, first printing, signed by the author) The Sunday Times Bestseller A new, fully updated narrative edition of David Attenborough's seminal biography of our world, The Living Planet . In the Chitwan National Park and Valmiki Tiger Reserve, rhinoceros munch the lush vegetation and tigers prowl through the bamboo thickets. They therefore have the sort of differences and likenesses that you might expect from such a relationship. Trials of Life: A Natural History of Animal Behaviour - SIGNED Collins 2022 First edition, first printing, signed by the author) The third and final updated edition of David Attenborough's classic Life trilogy. By the end of this book it is difficult to say which is the more astonishing - the ingenuity with which individual species contrive a living, or the complexity of their interdependence on each other and on the habitations provided by our planet.

The coniferous forest grows in a belt right around the globe, some 1,900 kilometres across at its widest. Large format paperbacks(a couple of small creases and nicks on the edges of the covers and spines) in near fine condition, with an illustrated slipcase(two small dents, nicks and scratch on the edges of the slipcase) in near fine condition. As it neared, the sediments on the sea floor began to ruck and crumple so that the sea became increasingly shallow. They habitually soared to great heights and so had no difficulty in moving up into the huge valleys, as long as there were creatures below to provide them with meals. Further south, the warmer climate sees the pine trees give way to broad-leaved species, such as the oak and beech. I would’ve been really nice to watch it and absorb this information in a visual way, because there is a lot of information in this book. Only the very smallest plants and animals can defy gravity, but some seeds, such as those of the sycamore, cheat this by simulating the movement of a helicopter.

First impression of this 2021 edition in new condition, signed by David Attenborough to the front endpage. The series comprises: Life on Earth (1979); The Living Planet (1984); The Trials of Life (1990); The Private Life of Plants (1994); The Life of Birds (1998); The Life of Mammals (2002); Life in the Undergrowth (2005); Life in Cold Blood (2007); Life on Earth (revised and expanded edition 2018). However, such adaptations are comparatively recent: these mountains were formed from the sea bed some 65 million years ago.Although I’ve listened to him narrate several of his books on audio, this is the first time I’ve actually bought and read one but it’s impossible not to hear his voice in my head as I was reading this. The dust jacket is clipped, and there is a very small amount of ware to the front upper corner of the inside jacket, and a small bit of damage to the spine, as shown in images. Young rivers are by nature vigorous and dangerous: they flow fast and form rapids, thick with mud and sediment. The accompanying book, The Living Planet: A Portrait of the Earth by David Attenborough ( ISBN 0-563-20207-6), was published by BBC Books on 2 February 1984.
