Description

Collectable Minifigures have consistently exhibited increasing complexity and detail, including more dual-moulded pieces with growing intricacy. However, 71031 Marvel Studios Collectable Minifigures establishes a new exceptional standard! Almost every minifigure benefits from dual-moulding, arm printing or printing on the sides of both legs, which was historically reserved for fewer chosen characters. This alternate timeline version of Loki, who embraced the new identity of Sylvie, is one of many that the LEGO Group could have chosen for this spot in the first LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures series. But thanks to her connection with the more familiar god of mischief and her role within the ongoing Loki narrative, it makes sense for Sylvie to be the second minifigure for the show in 71031 Marvel Studios. Agatha Harkness is a great addition to be displayed with Scarlet Witch from Marvel Series 1. It’s been a long wait, but the minifigure is exactly what you’d like from an Agatha minifigure and as an added bonus, it also doubles up as a great witch minifigure that will come in handy for Halloween.

Loki's accessories also deviate from the television series, to some degree. The printed Time Variance Authority mug seems suitable, but Throg is undoubtedly an unusual addition! Thor's famed frog equivalent only appears briefly during the series and his inclusion here is therefore remarkable, originating from an earlier script that involved the character more prominently. Time. Space. Reality. Everything that happens. A single choice can branch into infinite alternate realities. We can and we must interfere to make sure that they are good choices. But there is grace in our failings. I think you missed that. Save what we can? We have to. Protect what we have? At all costs. It’s not like we can build a suit and privatize world peace. (You’re welcome for pointing that out.) but without the suit where are we? If we need the suit, then we don’t deserve it. That’s a sad truth. But a thing isn’t beautiful because it lasts. And what is grief, if not love persevering?" While Captain America still suffers from the same gap in his head printing that The Vision does, the additional features such as the detaching Redwing drone, iconic shield (which you’ll have two of for collecting the full series) and bright red goggles make up for what is likely a limitation of current LEGO minifigure development. In short, get the new Captain America minifigure. What more can we say about 71031 Marvel Studios? In case you couldn’t tell by now, we’re very impressed with the long-awaited first series of LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures. The budget that is usually set aside for the blind-bagged theme applied to the intricately-designed characters of the MCU makes for a perfect pairing, even at the series’ low points. I think I prefer the image of the yodeling to death superpower. Sounds almost like a lost Monty Python skit, a quasi-sequel to Mr Neutron so to speak :-) "

Here’s a comparison with the 2017 She-Hulk. The printing and design is much-improved, but I do kinda miss the simplicity of the older She-Hulk costume which is more comic-accurate. Marvel Zombies was introduced in comics during 2005 and What If...? features an episode about this alternative universe, where famous heroes have become zombies. Zombie Captain America retains recognisable features of the original character, but his uniform has become tattered and therefore reveals inhuman zombie flesh underneath. These minifigures appear remarkably appealing and have therefore attracted extraordinary excitement, perhaps surpassing other Collectable Minifigures. Certain prominent characters are missing though, which has proven contentious. Nevertheless, I anticipate the individual designs overshadowing the potential selection issues. Box Distribution Why they still don't want to sell them outright like polybags or Megabloks TMNT figures from the second Bay movie, I wonder still. License concerns are out of the question, otherwise there would not be polybag minifigs as gifts at all." characters: Agatha Harkness, Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Mr. Knight, She-Hulk, The Werewolf, Goliath, Storm, Beast, Wolverine and Echo If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that my positition on this has been clear, I do not support the switch to pure blind boxes, as it encourages gambling, and the uncertainty of what you will get, something that most people can’t afford to do. LEGO could’ve easily included some hidden code or symbol on each box to identify what’s inside, but their unwillingness to do so just reeks of not listening to longtime fans and punishing Minifigure fans. This isn’t your usual pristine Captain America minifigure, with much of the Star-Spangled icons being worn away (including an oddly adorable bite mark in one of the helmet’s printed wings). This attention to detail matches that of the character as seen in What If…? as well as the aesthetic of other LEGO zombie minifigures. With how rare undead minifigures have become, Zombie Captain America is likely to be in demand for good reason.

Eagle-eyed Marvel fans will realise that this is a brand new Ant-Man statuette design that’s different to the original statuette, and also the one found in 76192 Avengers: Endgame Final Battle. We’ve come to expect a variety of new prints and pieces from the many Collectible Minifigures that have formed the theme over the past 11 years, but with 12 new and old Marvel superheroes to build, how do the characters of 71031 Marvel Studios fare compared to other blind-bagged series? The Scarlet Witch Gamora, Zombie Cap and Spiderman Sorcerer Supreme I reserve judgment for when the What If? Series will air but no complaints on those Collectible Marvel heroes - Marvel fans can build their collections with 12 unique characters from iconic Disney+ shows to collectI promise the S.W.O.R.D drone was predominantly dark blue, when deployed by Monica: https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/S.W.O.R.D._Drone "
