Mark my words- you will never see me changing my signature fragrance on my profile- this will be my uplifting morning start the day casual/ dumb grab "oh here comes Nathan" scent until the day I die. Cool Water is a natural entry point into the world of perfumes for men and I think it excels in that role. This is first and fore-most a sweet, aquatic scent with some florals and aromatics to give a bit of freshness and a bit of green spice. It's fair to say the scent is a bit synthetic but it's honestly balanced well enough that it's not unbearable unless you really really overspray.

So I got this at Wal Mart with the intention of it being for myself. But when I bought it with my husband, I made a deal with him that if he really liked it he could have it as his options for fragrances he has and likes to use are limited because he normally only looks woodsy, amber, musk scents. Opening with a refreshing aquatic accord of citrus, honeydew melon, and lotus, the fragrance transitions to a heart of gentle flowers including May Rose, Lily, and Muguet. The base notes of musk, raspberry, and vetiver add a soft and inviting depth. Perfect for summer days at the beach, it's a pioneering and well-liked scent that comes at an affordable price point. Right now it's February in Wisconsin, and one of the coldest Februaries I remember. I have always liked Cool Water but never had the courage to buy it -- at the time when it first came out, I was all about subtlety with fragrances and felt that this would be too strong. I was also between this and Vivid, and thought Vivid was a little more sophisticated, which is possibly true. This is a really hard scent to rate. I love having it because I can overspray before working out or just heading out to the store and not worry about running out. It's a nice scent but it's obviously nothing all that unique and the performance is pretty bad. This is miles ahead of the two other blue/aquatic cheapies I own, Nautica Voyage and Azzaro Chrome, which are not suited for anyone older than 14 and even one spray of which could be nausea inducing for some. Unlike those, Cool Water is actually wearable, and comes in a really nice, barbershop style glass bottle. I bought the big 200ml bottle and don't regret it at all.Aspen in its mighty mint green apple opening and lavender heart was such an easy one to enjoy. Not to be outdone the marine coolness and lavender top notes of cool water smelled refreshing as a drink on a hot day. Price is good, and I would say blind buy safe too if you want a change, also uber masculine, so sorry ladies, I wouldn't want to smell this one on any of you, I'd be weirded out!!! This fragrance has reigned supreme for damn near 35 years. The fact that it still smells so incredible makes this a masterpiece. Not in a "bad scent" awful but in the sense that the fragrance dissipates immediately. Like you bought water in a bottle.

The opening is quite sharp and astringent, reminding me of a swimming pool but in a kind of nostalgic way. Melon is instantly noticeable after initial application and stays there throughout development, I get a lot of waterlily and something that feels "grassy" along with a cold dewy sort of feeling from the calone. I can't say I notice any of the other fruits or florals and the pencil shaving woody notes of my previous bottle are non existent. Cool Water dries down to a light melon shower gel skin scent by about the 3hr mark and stays like that until I take a shower. Davidoff introduced Cool Water for Women a decade following the original Cool Water for Men, and it's like a refreshing dip in the ocean. This floral aquatic fragrance exudes a serene aura reminiscent of ocean breezes and cooling seawater, accompanied by a fusion of fruits and woods. After middle school I denied Cool Water as Peter did Jesus. I thought it cheap and outdated, unwilling to be associated with such a fragrance I denounced it roundly. 20 odd years later, while in law school, I finally came home. Update: This smells very unisex to me (which I like) so I let my younger brother have a spritz before a date with his girlfriend, since he really loved the smell on me. Apparently she did too, and wouldn't stop hugging/sniffing him the whole time lol. And this is a girl in her late teens. So to the menfolk our there, don't be afraid to play around, with "women's" perfume. The idea of gendered products is a bit silly anyway. Wear what you like. I just got a bottle that smells like OG cool water and it lasts 6+ hours. Almost afraid to re-apply throughout the day. This is quite a ubiquitous scent and instantly springs to mind whenever someone mentions a scent is "aquatic". I've had Cool Water previously but it was my mother's part used bottle and was the "deodorant spray" rather than the actual EdT, it also had turned and smelt like overripe melon and pencil shavings so I binned it. It should be in EVERY collector's collection simply because it Fathered modern fragrance. It sent a ripple through the fragrance industry for sure. So masculine, so sexy, so ASSERTIVE but so cool. This fragrance smells martian to me. Nowadays fragrances play with mixing masculinity and femininity but Cool Water doesn't play any of the charades. At all lol.
