Description

It’s great when you know someone has a Chuck Norris or Leonardo de Caprio stack with several 25 and/or 50 wild cards and you have three action cards to help you steal it from them: play the action card where you ask the player to your left for their highest wild card until you get to someone who has a wild card to give you (players should be honest about it or why bother playing? Stacking Tip: Stack the first pair vertical, then the next horizontal, then alternating, keeping the corners aligned in an 'L' shape. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The premise of the game is that you are collecting sets of like goats (herds) in your stack by putting matching cards from your hand (or from your hand and the top discarded card) onto the top of your stack.

The only way an opponent can defend their goats is if they play the same goat card again or a wild card.

Are you willing to battle with your friends, hurt feelings, and play aggressively to become the Lord of the Goats? The included directions make it seem challenging to figure out but I watched a video on how to play which explained it well.

There were also some 1-2 star reviews from people saying Goat Lords is a blatant rip off of Uncle Becks Cover Your Assets but I don’t agree. Because it is a silly game, no one should get too upset when your stack gets nuked by an unexpected action or two. The basic premise is players try to acquire a stack of cards consisting of matching goats, each of which is worth from five to fifty points. It’s all a matter of whether you want to play a game with action cards and cute and funny art work or a more streamlined similar mechanic game like Cover Your Assets. PS it comes with a coupon code inside the box which can be used to purchase the expansion or another game from them!BECOME THE GOAT LORD: The GOAL of this hilariously strategic card game is to become Lord of the Goats! At then end of the turn, players will refresh their hand from the Draw Pile, ensuring that they have the same number of cards that they initially started with. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that just as there’s nothing wrong with Goat Lords being similar to Cover Your Assets.

Take top card and place it face up; this will act as the start if the discard pile (A wild cannot start it). Know when to hold ‘em and know when to attack, as you are also a potential target for other players! Action cards change the strategy of the game and throw twists to your plot to dominate the know Goat World. We often find that games tend to bias the adults, as they understand tactics and gameplay better which makes it fairly tedious for younger players who rarely win (unless the adults let them! You do so by stacking pairs of matching goat cards in front of you and stealing opponent’s goats before the draw pile runs out. It is not that easy though as other players can steal or eliminate your herds through either duels or the use of action cards (which have truly zany effects).

If the Discard Pile has more than five goat cards, then it may be shuffled and used as the new Draw Pile. plus one more action; that action is to play the card where you pick a player to put a stack of your choice to the top of their stack plus one action; the plus action would be to play another action card, especially the one where it tells you to steal the top stack of any player and now you can steal the big points stack you just had someone bring up to the top of their big stack AND you get one more action; the last action would be to put another two matching goat cards on top of your own goat stack to “protect” your new, just stolen goat stack! You do so by stacking pairs of matching goat cards in front of you and stealing opponent's goats before the draw pile runs out. I’m in no way shape or form related to nor do I know the creator of this game or anyone at Gatwick Games.

It’s perfect for any family game night, party game, thanksgiving games, christmas party games, teen games and more! You can end up winning simply because your last card happens to match the big stack allowing you to steal it. I only took off one star for this (when normally it would be at least two stars off) because this is clearly supposed to be a silly game. Only so many people can play and one time so sometimes we play two people to a tam to get more players in. This game is much more fun to us than Cover Your Assets and the action cards and art work play a big part in that assessment.
