In a mid-credits scene, Burnside is sitting in his office looking over papers when a giant insect is zapped by the laser forcefield, something that makes him very proud.

When Alisha catches Buzz doing a mission log, she tells him nobody ever listens to them. In Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins, Warp Darkmatter made the same remark about mission logs. However, due to the brief same-sex kiss, it became the first children's animated feature film to be given an NC16 rating in Singapore, equivalent to an R rating in the US. The Brave Little Toaster (1987) • Valiant (2005) • The Wild (2006) • A Christmas Carol (2009) • Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) • Mars Needs Moms (2011) • Strange Magic (2015) • The Lion King (2019) With Buzz captured, Darby asks Sox to know if he could help fly the Armadillo, which Sox tells her that there is no fuel inside just before she gets into an argument with Mo, blaming each other for getting in this situation. However, when Izzy notices the door open inside Zurg's ship, Izzy tells Darby, Mo, and Sox to enter inside the ship to go into space and help rescue Buzz just as Sox follows alongside the Junior Patrol. Sox resembles a ginger and white robot cat with green eyes and wears a blue collar with his name engraved on a tag.

Who is Sox?

Contrary to what casual audiences might think, Lightyear will not be about the same Buzz Lightyear toy that audiences have followed since Toy Story's release in 1995. Instead, Pixar's newest film will opt for a meta approach by telling the story of the fictional Space Ranger that would eventually inspire the line of Buzz Lightyear toys in the Toy Story universe. That is why Buzz looks and sounds so different from the Tim Allen version. Even still, the appearance of what appears to be a redesigned Emporer Zurg in the trailer reveals that at least some elements of the toy’s mythology—also known as the text behind the box—will be incorporated into Lightyear. We asked Evans if his relationship with his very social media-worthy dog Dodger inspired Buzz’s relationship with Sox. “I was hoping that Dodger informed the creation of Sox,” Chris Evans joked. “That’s not the case. But you can’t deny the coloring. It’s pretty similar.” In addition, for the IMAX version, there are nearly 30 minutes of scenes that were produced in the nearly IMAX standard ratio, which is the 1.43:1 aspect ratio, making the film the first Pixar film to have selected scenes to be produced in this ratio. When asked about the relationship between Lightyear and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, a Toy Story spin-off series that also serves as an in-universe production starring the Buzz character, MacLane, who directed the CG opening sequence for Star Command, [3] said that he did not have it in mind while working on the film, but always pictured the series being developed in-universe after a trilogy of Lightyear films. [4] [5] He later explained that Lightyear serves as a "live-action" film within the Toy Story universe, whereas Star Command serves as a hand-drawn animated series based on the film, from which the toy versions of Buzz and Zurg derive from. [6] [7] Casting [ ]

It was revealed in March 2022 that a scene featuring a same-sex kiss between Alicia Hawthorne and another woman was initially cut, because it was random and didn't help the storyline. However, due to then-current Disney CEO Bob Chapek's response to the passing of the Floridian Parental Rights in Education Bill (also known as the "Don't Say Gay Bill") and the internal uproar it caused within Disney, the scene was reinstated. [2] The camera pulling away from Sox and in between Buzz's legs, then pulling up to see Buzz in a heroic pose is a nod to his introduction in Toy Story. Buzz's ship is shown to be powered by a crystal. This is likely an homage to how in Toy Story, where Buzz asks Woody if his people have yet to discover crystallic fusion. Truly, Sox is our star and we can’t wait to see more of him and his relationship with Buzz Lightyear. But we want to know what you thought of Sox. On February 8, Pixar dropped a full Lightyear trailer that is giving us a much better look at what we can expect from this Toy Story origin story. And while the focus should be on Buzz Lightyear (of course), for us it was all about Sox.Tim Allen and Chris Evans both share the same birthday but are 28 years apart, with Tim being born in 1953 and Chris in 1981. In a post-credits scene, ERIC finally maps out the perfect route to take to the hangar, only to realize that everyone has already left. When Sox greets Buzz, he says his lines that are similar to Baymax from Big Hero 6 which are, "Hello, I am Baymax. Your personal healthcare companion". This is the fourth Pixar film that doesn't feature John Ratzenberger, after Soul, Luca, and Turning Red. Furthermore, Sox follows alongside Mo, Izzy, and Darby in a plan to rescue Buzz who is captured by Zurg. Just as they enter, Sox detects two Buzz signals (consisting of Buzz and Zurg - the latter who is revealed to be an older version of Buzz), planning to triangulate in a plan to help the Junior Patrol to find Buzz and rescue him from Zurg. Later, Zurg crushes his own Sox who attempts to escape with Buzz, confronting him while competing in a plan for Buzz to obtain the crystal for the Armadillo's fuel.

A crate resembling WALL-E in his cube-shaped body can be seen outside of the abandoned hangar where Buzz and Sox go in to find a new ship. Another crate like this is seen in a part of the mining facility as it breaks apart. Just like Chris Evans' character, Steve Rogers, the Lightyear version of Buzz ends up in the future over eighty-nine years later. At the Terillium Mine, Sox, Buzz, and the rest of the Junior Patrol, arrive at the facility and enter a facility within the mine and just as they enter, four AI devices activate and trap Sox and his allies in capture cones, leaving them unable to escape; after Darby and Izzy are caught in the cone where Mo was trapped, Sox ends up getting trapped as well. Buzz asks Sox if there is a possible way to disarm the traps, but Sox is unable reach the controls that can help him deactivate the traps, leading the four to slam their cone into the control after Buzz keeps the door open, although they are unable to disarm the traps; Buzz and his allies (who are all in the same cone) managed to slam the control very hard while the door is still open, albeit pressure they put causes a part of the platform carrying part of the building to collapse. Just as the part of the building collapses, Buzz tosses Sox onto Izzy's hand to help protect him just as Buzz manages to retrieve the coil and escape the collapsing part of the building. Andrew Stanton, who served as the executive producer of Lightyear, previously voiced Zurg in Toy Story 2, to which Zurg himself is voiced by James Brolin in this film. While Sox might immediately bring to mind Jonesy from “Alien” and “Aliens” (“Aliens” is MacLane’s favorite film), he said that Sox’s coloring wasn’t an explicit reference to that James Cameron classic. “I mean, we tried different colors even, and I ended up going with orange because it just stood out better from the rest of the outfits,” MacLane explained. “Obviously from Morris the cat to Garfield to Jonesy, there’s a rich history of orange cats in popular culture, but it just ended up being a contrast thing.” Sox’s design also combines the movie’s aesthetic directive of being “chunky” like consumer products of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. “He feels very much like a robot of that time,” MacLane said. Buzz quotes a number of lines that he (and Utility Belt Buzz from Toy Story 2) originally said in the Toy Story franchise (besides his signature catchphrase, "To infinity and beyond"). Adorned in brand new upgraded armor, Buzz and his team prepare for their next mission. Buzz and Izzy admire a statue of Alisha before continuing to their brand new ship. Buzz, Izzy, Mo, Darcy, and Sox get set for a brand new adventure with their motto, "To Infinity and Beyond!"

This is the third Pixar film to have a post-credits scene play after the production logos, after WALL-E and Soul. One of the crew members listened as Buzz prepares his first flight is named Booster, a nod to Booster Munchapper, one of Buzz's teammates from the series. Some scream canisters from Monsters, Inc. can be seen in the abandoned hangar, near where the Space Ranger suits are stored. A drink labeled "Wade Water", showing its mascot Wade, is a reference to Pixar's next film, Elemental. Poseable Legs and Head: Enjoy the poseable legs and head of Sox, allowing for dynamic play and imaginative storytelling. Create exciting adventures inspired by Disney and Pixar's Lightyear!
